Oceania to sail Dubai to Cape Town grand voyage in 2022 aboard Nautica

The luxury cruise line Oceania will sail a grand voyage from the Middle East to South Africa in 2022 aboard its ship Nautica.

The Dubai to Cape Town cruise will depart December 7th, and will visit 19 destinations across Arabia, the Indian Ocean and Africa during the 30-day voyage.

This will be Nautica’s third time sailing a Dubai to Cape Town grand voyage, an itinerary that has become an annual tradition for Oceania.

“Quench your thirst for life on this enterprising exploration of essential yet not-oft-seen ports of call, where adventure awaits among the soaring dunes of the UAE, the azure atolls of the Maldives and the thrilling game reserves of South Africa,” says Oceania.

Nautica will depart Dubai late in the evening of December 7th, sailing overnight to Abu Dhabi, then Fujairah and Muscat, before heading out into the Indian Ocean. These two days at sea are the first of many on the cruise, and will bring the ship into Mumbai in India, cruising overnight to Goa, Mangalore and Cochin, before sailing away from the coast again for Male in the Maldives, an overnight call in port.

After another two days at sea, she’ll call in La Digue and Mahe in the Seychelles, staying overnight in port again before cruising for Mombasa, Kenya, a historic trade and tourism hub off the coast of the mainland. Zanzibar is another island on the itinerary, in Tanzania, before the ship heads back into the deep sea for Mayotte in the French Comores.

Nautica will then cruise for Maputo in Mozambique, the last port of call before she reaches the South African coast, where port calls will include Richard’s Bay, Durban, Mossel Bay and the final port of the cruise, Cape Town.

Nautica will stay overnight in the Mother City, giving passengers more time to explore all that it has to offer, from the iconic Table Mountain, and the infamous Robben Island, to the beautiful winelands of the Garden Route and stunning beaches in and around the city.

Nautica is one of the older ships in the Oceania fleet, she was launched in 2000, but recently underwent a bow-to-stern makeover as part of the OceaniaNext refurbishment program across the fleet.

The cruise line says she’s now better-than-new, blending “sophistication with a contemporary flair to create a casually elegant ambiance”.

During the refit, every surface of every suite and stateroom was redesigned, while in the public spaces, a refreshed colour palette of soft sea and sky tones surrounds a tasteful renewal of fabrics, furnishings and lighting fixtures.

The ship carries just 690 passengers, but offers four dining venues and six cafes and bars, as well as two lounges, a casino, spa and gym, heated pool, three Jacuzzis and even a stately library.
