Seabourn Venture hull assembly completed as ship moved to next shipyard

Seabourn Venture has taken a major step forward in her construction with the final assembly of her hull, which has now been transported by barge to a second shipyard for final fit out and finishing.

The Seabourn Venture hull was built up to Deck 9 at a shipyard 1,200 nautical miles away and then towed by barge to Genoa, Italy, where she will be outfitted by the T. Mariotti shipyard, which is overseeing the entire contract with Seabourn.

The luxury expedition ship is the first purpose-built expedition vessel the cruise line has ever ordered, and will be the first of at least two. Seabourn Venture is due to be delivered in June, 2021, while a yet to be named sister ship is scheduled to launch in May, 2022.

The ship is already equipped with engines, generators, and main equipment of the engine rooms, according to Seabourn.

“This step in the process will be truly exciting to watch and is a major step forward in the overall construction of the ship,” said Josh Leibowitz, President, Seabourn. “I am very proud of everyone involved in the construction of Seabourn Venture and thank our teams for helping us reach this point under the circumstances we have faced over the past year.”

“Our anticipation will certainly keep building in the months ahead prior to delivery,” he added.

Seabourn Venture will feature submersibles for passengers

Seabourn Venture’s inaugural season will be a set of winter itineraries from Norway in 2022 with opportunities to see the Northern Lights.

The two ships will be designed and built for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards and will include modern hardware and technology that will extend the ships’ global deployment and capabilities.

Each will also carry two custom-built submarines, 24 Zodiacs, kayaks, and an expert expedition team.

The ship’s will be one of the most luxurious expedition vessels ever brought to market, with all-inclusive dining and drinks, all-suite accommodations with oceanfront views, and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere.

“We are proud to have reached such an important milestone of the project and are very excited to see finally such a beauty in her hull and superstructures form now visible,” said Marco Ghiglione, Managing Director, T. Mariotti.

“We really thank everyone, with no exceptions, that worked with us to get to this point. Now, we can’t wait to receive Seabourn Venture in Genova for the completion,” he added.
