First digitally-enhanced escape room to feature on Sky and Enchanted Princess

Princess Cruises two newest cruise ships Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess will both feature the world’s first digitally-enhanced escape room at sea.

The ‘Phantom Bridge’ will combine digital and physical challenges as players captain a simulated ship through a range of historical and future time periods, Princess Cruises said in a release.

Accompanying lighting, sound and digital features will create a realistic interactive experience as up to six players try to find the room’s exit key.

“The Phantom Bridge is tailored to players of all ages and physical abilities so families and friends can play together,” Princess Cruises said in a statement. “It features a number of levels, time periods and brainteasers with more than 700 possible outcomes on offer, meaning returning players can experience multiple different endings.”

To progress through the story, which lasts around 25-minutes, guests must work as a team to uncover clues and solve puzzles with the ‘ship’ transforming and responding to their actions.

The escape room will debut aboard the 3,660-guest Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess (due in October, 2019 and June, 2020 respectively). It will be located in the ships’ new ‘experience centre’ on deck 16, more details of which will be released in the coming weeks.

Sky Princess will sail her maiden voyage in October this year, but the Phantom Bridge will be available from December. The experience will be available on Enchanted Princess when the ship launches from Southampton in June, 2020.

The ships will feature a number of new-to-the-line amenities and attractions, from a redesigned Sanctuary deck to a new Jazz lounge concept called Take Five and French specialty restaurant Le Mer. Joining Le Mer will be 25 other venues and bars including the World Fresh Marketplace, Crown Grill Steakhouse and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria.

The ship’s will both also have the largest balconies in the fleet as part of the Sky Suites staterooms.

Princess Cruises is offering a 14-day Adriatic & Aegean Medley cruise on Enchanted Princess, sailing from Rome to Barcelona.

Departing Saturday, August 1st, 2020 ports of call include Naples, Sicily (both Italy), Kotor (Montenegro), Corfu, Crete, Mykonos, Athens and Santorini (all Greece). Prices from $2,604 with up to $375 onboard spending money available per person.

  • Big escape room fan here. This is a cool story. I'm curious what makes for a "digitally-enhanced escape room?" I haven't heard that phrase used before and I have seen tons of escape rooms with all sorts of digital elements.

    • From the looks of it, it seems that the digitally-enhanced element is the fact that the escape room is itself also a ship simulator. Will be interesting to see it in reality though!
