Princess Cruises’ new Enchanted Princess floated out ahead of 2020 debut

Princess Cruises’ next ship Enchanted Princess, the fifth Royal-class ship and a sister to upcoming Sky Princess, was floated out today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone.

With the 3,668-guest ship now in the water, interior fittings will begin, ahead of the ship’s 2020 delivery.

The ship will have 19 decks and 25 bars and restaurants, as well as the glass-enclosed walkway over the ocean known as the SeaWalk that captivated guests aboard Royal Princess when she first launched.

Enchanted Princess, like Sky Princess, will also introduce the line’s new Sky Suites, which feature the largest terraces on any Princess cruise ship, along with  new lounges such as jazz lounge Take 5, and more than 25 dining venues and bars including the World Fresh Marketplace and speciality restaurants La Mer (French bistro), Crown Grill Steakhouse and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria.

Both ships will also feature The Phantom Bridge, the first digitally-enhanced escape room at sea. The ‘Phantom Bridge’ will combine digital and physical challenges as players captain a simulated ship through a range of historical and future time periods, Princess Cruises previously said in a release.

La Mer French bistro will launch aboard Sky Princess this year, and Enchanted Princess in 2020

La Mer meanwhile was created by three Michelin-starred chef, Emmanuel Renaut, the owner and executive chef of the Flocons de Sel restaurant, located in the French Alps village of Megève.

The French bistro-style eatery will be located in the atrium aboard the new ships and will offer dishes such as beef filet mignon, sweet onions sauté, red wine jus, with hand cut chips and red snapper & scallop mousseline, lobster morsels and lemon grass lobster sauce.

Take 5 will be the only jazz theatre at sea and will debut aboard Sky Princess when she launches in October 2019 and Enchanted Princess in June 2020.

Guests can listen to live performances as well as enjoy after-hours parties and take part in dance lessons.

Enchanted Princess is a sister ship to Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Majestic Princess and the upcoming Sky Princess.

Enchanted Princess is due to enter service in 2020

All five ships were built by Fincantieri, and the shipyard will also be building Princess Cruises two next-generation LNG-powered cruise ships.

They will be the largest built so far in Italy at 175,000 tons, expected to be delivered at the end of 2023 and in spring 2025.

The vessels will accommodate approximately 4,300 guests and will be the first Princess vessels that are dual-fuel, powered primarily by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
