Travelmarvel returns to Egypt as Sirius begins maiden Nile season

Travelmarvel has returned to Egypt with the maiden voyage of its new Nile river ship, Sirius.

The vessel has begun its inaugural season with guests embarking in Luxor after starting their wider Egypt journey in Cairo.

The launch marks Travelmarvel’s return to the country and expands its river cruise programme with a ship designed specifically for operations on the Nile.

During the maiden voyage, passengers visited a series of archaeological and historic sites along the Nile, including Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Abu Simbel, and Philae Temple.

Shore excursions are led by Travelmarvel Tour Directors who are qualified Egyptologists.

Sirius was designed specifically for Nile cruising, with its interiors incorporating influences from Egyptian history and culture alongside contemporary accommodation and public spaces.

Onboard facilities include multiple dining venues and a sun deck with a swimming pool. The ship also offers local entertainment centred on Egyptian culture.

Travelmarvel marked the start of the inaugural voyage with a sail-away event attended by passengers and crew.

The ship’s name continues the company’s practice of naming vessels after stars and constellations. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and also has historical associations with ancient Egyptian astronomy.

The new vessel gives Travelmarvel a dedicated river cruise product in Egypt as the company resumes operations in the destination.

The itineraries combine the Nile cruise with time on land, with the inaugural guests beginning their journey in Cairo before travelling to Luxor to board the ship.

Travelmarvel is part of The APT Travel Group and is positioning Sirius primarily towards passengers seeking a premium Nile cruise product.

The company has also opened Sirius sailings for 2028 to the US market, extending the ship’s programme beyond its inaugural season.
