Princess Cruises unveils 115-day 2028 world cruise with overnight in Cape Town

Princess Cruises has introduced a 115-day global voyage in 2028 aboard Coral Princess, with the itinerary scheduled to visit 49 destinations across 24 countries and five continents.

The sailing is scheduled to depart on January 3rd, 2028, with embarkation available in both Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles. The voyage will cover approximately 36,000 nautical miles and include visits to 39 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Operating with capacity for around 2,000 passengers, Coral Princess will cross both the Equator and the International Date Line during the itinerary. The voyage will also include a transit of the Panama Canal before continuing westward across the Pacific.

“Our 2028 World Cruise is an unparalleled voyage designed for travellers to see the world in a meaningful, immersive way — with more overnight stays, more time in port, deeper cultural connections and unforgettable moments at every turn,” said Jim Berra, Chief Commercial Officer, Princess Cruises.

“Guests will embark on an exceptional and deeply rewarding journey with extraordinary exploration, effortlessly wrapped in Princess’ signature warmth,” Berra added.

Following departure from North America, the ship will sail through the Panama Canal before visiting destinations in Hawaii and the South Pacific, including Samoa and Fiji. The voyage will then continue to Australia and New Zealand, with calls in cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.

After crossing the Indian Ocean, Coral Princess will visit islands including Mauritius and Réunion before reaching South Africa. The itinerary includes an overnight stay in Cape Town and a maiden call to Mossel Bay, a coastal town located along South Africa’s Garden Route.

Mossel Bay is home to archaeological cave sites containing evidence of early human activity dating back more than 160,000 years. The call represents the first time the destination has been included in a Princess Cruises world voyage itinerary.

From South Africa, the ship will continue north along the west coast of Africa before entering the Mediterranean, where scheduled ports include Barcelona, Dubrovnik and locations in Sicily.

A call in Casablanca is also planned before the vessel returns across the Atlantic to North America.

The itinerary includes several overnight and late-night port calls designed to allow passengers additional time ashore. In addition to overnight stays in Cape Town and Auckland, late departures are planned in ports including Barcelona, Casablanca, Dubrovnik, Honolulu, Melbourne, and Sydney.

Princess Cruises has also indicated that shore programmes during the voyage will include opportunities to visit wildlife reserves in South Africa, including Aquila Game Reserve and Pumba Private Game Reserve.

Passengers who prefer shorter voyages will be able to book individual segments of the itinerary, with options ranging from 20 to 100 days.

Bookings for the 2028 sailing have now opened, with the voyage expected to attract passengers from multiple international markets.
