Crystal has confirmed that its contract with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for a third next-generation ocean cruise ship has become effective, reinforcing the luxury cruise line’s long-term fleet expansion plans.

The 650-guest vessel is scheduled for delivery in May 2034 and forms part of an option exercised in 2024, extending Crystal’s orderbook to three new ocean ships.

The announcement follows continued progress on Crystal Grace, currently under construction at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard ahead of its planned debut in 2028, while a sister ship is scheduled to enter service in May 2031.

Together, the three vessels will represent the next generation of Crystal’s ocean fleet as the brand continues its expansion under A&K Travel Group.

Like her sister ships, the new vessel will measure approximately 62,000 gross tons and accommodate 650 guests based on double occupancy.

The ship will feature all-veranda accommodation, including an expanded Owner’s Suite and new suite categories designed to cater for changing guest preferences, including solo travellers.

Crystal said the vessels will continue the brand’s emphasis on spacious accommodations and personalised service, supported by one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios in the luxury cruise sector.

Design features will include a full wraparound promenade inspired by Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, together with expanded outdoor venues and al fresco dining terraces connected to the ships’ speciality restaurants.

The latest order builds on Crystal’s recent momentum, which has included the start of construction on Crystal Grace, the opening of bookings for the ship’s inaugural 2028 season, and continued investment in new onboard concepts as the brand seeks to strengthen its position in the growing luxury cruise market.

Crystal was acquired by A&K Travel Group in 2022 after the collapse of former parent company Genting Hong Kong during the pandemic. Since relaunching in 2023, the line has resumed operations with Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony and launched its newbuild programme with Fincantieri.
