Disney Dream has entered drydock at the Damen Shipyard in Brest, France, to undergo a series of significant upgrades following the completion of her summer program in Europe.
Disney Cruise Line has sent the 14-year-old vessel to the shipyard for a major bow-to-stern life-extending refit and refurbishment that will include routine maintenance, technical work and class items, as well as upgrades to her staterooms and public areas.
The work began on September 16th, 2024 and is expected to wrap-up by the middle of next month, when Disney Dream is due to depart Southampton on a 13-night trans-Atlantic crossing on October 20th.
The work being done to the ship, the third vessel delivered to the fleet after Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, includes a new funnel suite, revamped youth spaces, a refreshed spa, and new dining options.
The Dream Tower Suite will be a duplex apartment within the vessel’s forward funnel, channelling the hugely popular funnel suite that debuted aboard Disney Wish in 2022.
It will feature art deco motifs, celestial-inspired designs and a chandelier reminiscent of a scene from the movie Fantasia.
Disney Dream will also get a new Concierge Lounge inspired by the movie Hercules and its Mount Olympus, with light, airy details and rich colours such as gold intended to evoke the gates to the kingdom of the gods.
A new Mexican cantina restaurant will also debut onboard, and the spa will be revamped with more treatment rooms and a new check-in area.
Meanwhile, Edge, the tween club for guests aged 11-14, will move to Deck 5 to make room for the funnel suite, and will receive an outdoor deck equipped with a ball pit and other features. The Oceaneer Club will also see significant changes with the addition of a state-of-the-art lab, called the Marvel WEB Workshop.
Here, younger guests will be able to test new suit prototypes for Spider-Man and other Marvel heroes and conduct training simulations using WEB technology to fend off enemies from the Workshop. Avenger mentors will also drop by the workshop to check in on their progress.
Disney Dream is scheduled to resume service next month, welcoming guests back onboard in Southampton for a trans-Atlantic crossing that departs October 20th.
From early November, the ship will offer a series of 3- to 5-night cruises to the Caribbean and Bahamas, sailing roundtrip from Port Everglades and visiting Castaway Cay and Disney’s new private island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
