MSC World Europa is scheduled to return to the Middle East for a second consecutive winter season in 2027/28, reinforcing the cruise line’s continued commitment to the Arabian Gulf as a core seasonal deployment region.
According to MSC Cruises, the LNG-powered vessel, the largest in its fleet, will reposition to the Arabian Gulf in late November 2027 following a summer programme in the Western Mediterranean.
The 5,400-guest ship is set to undertake a 21-night repositioning voyage to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, marking the beginning of its regional winter operations.
The extended cruise will call at multiple destinations across Southern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East, including ports in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Oman, and Qatar.
Scheduled calls include Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples and Piraeus (Athens), as well as Marmaris and Limassol, before the ship transits the Suez Canal and continues to Alexandria.
Following its passage through the canal, the itinerary includes calls at Muscat and Doha, before arriving in Dubai for an overnight stay.
While further Gulf itineraries for the season have yet to be published, MSC World Europa is currently expected to commence its winter programme in the region on December 11th, 2027, and will likely continue to interport between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha.
During her last season in the Middle East, MSC World Europa operated roundtrip 7-night itineraries from all three ports, calling at Sir Bani Yas Island off Abu Dhabi, and Damman in Saudi Arabia.
However, during the 2025/26 cruise season, MSC Euribia swapped out Dammam for Bahrain.
The returning 2027/28 deployment builds on the ship’s growing presence in the Middle East, where it is also scheduled to return in late 2026 for its second winter season in the region.
The return of MSC World Europa to the Arabian Gulf for a second consecutive winter season underscores the region’s growing importance within global cruise deployment planning.
The deployment builds on strong commercial performance recorded during the ship’s earlier Gulf seasons. Speaking at Arabian Travel Market 2025 in Dubai, MSC Cruises Executive Director Angelo Capurro told Cruise Arabia & Africa that Dubai delivered the company’s strongest global winter season performance during 2024/25.
MSC Euribia generated the highest revenue and passenger figures in the fleet.
Capurro described the Middle East as “a very important role in our global strategy,” noting that regional demand exceeded results in traditional winter markets including the Caribbean, South America, and the Mediterranean.
As the first ship in MSC’s World class series, MSC World Europa was constructed at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France and entered service in late 2022. The class was subsequently expanded with the introduction of MSC World America, which entered service in the Caribbean in April 2025.
MSC Cruises is now preparing for a significant expansion of the World class fleet, with six additional vessels currently on order. These include MSC World Asia, scheduled to enter service in late 2026, and MSC World Atlantic, due to follow in late 2027.
Beyond the World class programme, the company has also confirmed the development of a new class of approximately 180,000-ton cruise ships, which will be constructed by Meyer Werft beginning in 2030.
