Silver Muse returns to service following extensive refit and capacity increase

Silversea’s Silver Muse has returned to service following a major refit and refurbishment at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy that has resulted in a substantial increase in guest capacity and a series of onboard modifications.

The refit included the addition of new berths, increasing the vessel’s capacity by approximately seven percent to 632 guests, as well as the introduction of the S.A.L.T., dining concept, while the ship’s La Dolce Vita main dining room was reduced in size to create new technical spaces.

The 2017-built ship is the first ship in Silversea’s Muse-class series, which also includes Silver Moon and Silver Dawn. This is her first major refit and refurbishment since her launch, and is described by Silversea as a “redefining revitalisation”.

The capacity increase was achieved through the replacement of larger suites with smaller staterooms on Decks 9, 10 and 11. On Deck 9 alone, six Silver Suites were removed and replaced with 12 new staterooms across multiple categories.

One of the most significant changes introduced during the refit is the addition of S.A.L.T. The venue, located on Deck 4, replaces the ship’s former Asian specialty restaurant, Indochine, and features menus inspired by the destinations visited by the ship, along with a bar offering regionally inspired drinks and wines.

As part of the same project, the ship’s La Dolce Vita main dining room was reduced in size to create new technical spaces. In addition to these modifications, the drydock included routine maintenance, class inspections, and other scheduled work.

Silver Muse resumed operations with a seven-night Western Mediterranean cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome). The itinerary included calls in Spain, Italy, and France, with visits to Valencia, Barcelona, Genoa, and Marseille.

Following that voyage, the ship repositioned to offer sailings between Barcelona and Lisbon, including a holiday itinerary covering the Canary Islands, Iberia, and Morocco. The 14-night cruise featured a scheduled call in Funchal on December 31st, 2025, where the vessel anchored for the town’s annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

After completing its current programme in Europe and the Atlantic Islands, Silver Muse is scheduled to continue its winter season in the Mediterranean.
