Celestyal Journey
Celestyal Journey has returned to service following a quick dry dock in Dubai during her inaugural Arabian Gulf cruise season.
The 1,260-passenger vessel is now once more offering the week long Desert Days itinerary, sailing roundtrip from Doha and calling at Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, with an overnight stay in Dubai at the Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal, as well as Khasab and Sir Bani Yas Island.
The refit, valued at more than US$6.5 million, saw the ship given a new livery with Celestyal’s signature hull wave and stars, while underwater areas of the hull were also treated and silicon painted.
The ship’s power management system was also updated to improve operational efficiency and performance.
“Celestyal Journey’s new look and livery makes it instantly recognisable as a Celestyal ship, while the technical upgrades will ensure it provides a smooth sailing experience for all who sail on her,” said Lee Haslett, Chief Operations Officer, Celestyal Cruises.
Celestyal Journey has a further two departures from Doha this season, on February 22nd and March 1st. She will also offer three sailings from Dubai, on February 17th, 24th, and March 3rd.
The ship was meant to leave the region at the end of February, but Celestyal Cruises added additional Dubai departures in response to unprecedented demand.
“We’ve seen phenomenal demand for our Arabian Gulf itineraries, with our last three Doha-Doha sailings operating at full capacity,” said Haslett.
“Overall, since launching the programme we’re 35% above target for sailed guests, which demonstrates a real desire to explore this beautiful part of the world on our intimate, mid-sized ships,” he added.
At the end of the current Middle East cruise season, Celestyal Journey will reposition to Athens for the start of her Mediterranean season. The ship will undergo further maintenance work before it begins sailing on April 12th, according to Celestyal.
Celestyal Journey will return to the Arabian Gulf on December 6th with an Abu Dhabi Grand Prix celebratory cruise to kick off the 2025/26 cruise season, during which she will once more homeport in Dubai and Doha.
Celestyal Discovery will also reposition to the region on December 12th, homeporting in Abu Dhabi.
