Royal Caribbean reveals name and itineraries for third Icon class mega ship

Royal Caribbean International has revealed the name and debut season itineraries for its third Icon Class ship, Legend of the Seas, a sister ship to Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas.

Sailing year-round from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from November 2026, the ship will offer 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean voyages, including visits to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

Prior to her Caribbean debut, Legend of the Seas will offer summer itineraries in Europe with 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona beginning August 2026. Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members will have special access to book ahead of the official opening on February 20th.

Legend of the Seas

The naming of the new Icon class ship Legend of the Seas marks a return of the name for Royal Caribbean International. In 1995 its Vision class Legend of the Seas was launched and sailed with the line until 2017 when she was sold to Marella Cruises. At 250,000 gross tons, the new Legend of the Seas is more than 3.5 times larger than her predecessor.

“On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class and the memories made by vacationers of all ages on Icon, we are thrilled to announce the name of Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class vacation,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

“Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy, and we look forward to bringing the revolutionary lineup of experiences to more families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond,” he added.

In the summer, Legend of the Seas will visit France, Italy and Spain, filled with historic sites, stunning landscapes and sun-soaked beaches. Her grand Caribbean debut in the winter will take guests to Royal Caribbean’s private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, on every getaway, along with Aruba, Jamaica, Curacao and more.

Legend of the Seas will feature 40 ways to dine and drink across eight neighbourhoods, along with a range of activities and relaxation options, from skywalks, waterparks, a shopping mall and expansive spa, to swim-up bars and theatre experiences.

A highlight aboard the new Icon class will be Crown’s Edge – part skywalk, part ropes course and part thrill ride – to the largest waterpark at sea, Category 6. Sun-seekers can kick back and choose from seven pools for every vibe and mood, including the largest pool at sea, Royal Bay. There’s also the swim-up bar Swim & Tonic and the adults-only Hideaway, featuring a one-of-a-kind infinity pool suspended above the ocean.

Families of all ages will also find a range of activities and experiences at Surfside, along with the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse with reimagined spaces for the whole family.

Legend of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will feature a proven lineup of industry-leading environmental programmes. With applications ranging from waste heat recovery systems to shore power connection, the ship will advance Royal Caribbean Group’s journey toward introducing a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
