Poolside bandstand
Holland America Line will add poolside live music venues to Oosterdam and Zuiderdam as part of its Evolution fleet upgrade programme.
New bandstands will be installed at the Lido Pool on both ships, creating dedicated spaces for live music and entertainment. The first is scheduled to debut aboard Oosterdam following the completion of its Evolution refurbishment in autumn 2027.
Programming at the venues will include solo performers and live bands, as well as entertainment associated with Holland America Line’s Orange Party events.
“Evolution is about bringing the very best of Holland America Line to more of our fleet. Over the past several years, we’ve been on a journey to expand and elevate our entertainment offerings across the fleet, guided by what our guests tell us they love most,” said Beth Bodensteiner, President, Holland America Line.
“The new Lido Pool bandstands are another step in that effort, creating more opportunities to enjoy live music and memorable performances in one of the ship’s most popular gathering spaces,” she added.
The Lido Pool areas aboard the ships are covered by retractable glass roofs, allowing the new entertainment spaces to operate in different weather conditions.
The bandstands form part of a broader series of changes planned under Holland America Line’s Evolution programme, which will cover six ships across the line’s Vista and Signature classes.
The project represents the largest fleet update undertaken during Holland America Line’s 153-year history and will introduce features influenced by the company’s newer Pinnacle-class vessels to older ships in the fleet.
Oosterdam and Zuiderdam, both members of the Vista class, will be the first vessels to undergo the Evolution transformation.
Beyond the pool deck, the two ships will receive changes to their accommodation and food and beverage offerings. These will include the introduction of the Grand Dutch Café, a venue already found aboard Holland America Line’s Pinnacle-class ships.
New staterooms and suites will also be added as part of the work, increasing and changing the accommodation available aboard the vessels.
Further details of the wider Evolution programme, including changes planned for the other participating Vista- and Signature-class ships, are expected as their individual refurbishment schedules approach.
The project will progressively introduce the revised spaces and venues across the six vessels rather than carrying out the changes simultaneously.
For Oosterdam, the completion of its Evolution work in autumn 2027 will mark the first implementation of the new Lido Pool entertainment concept. Zuiderdam will subsequently receive its own bandstand as its refurbishment is completed.
