Zuiderdam will become the next ship to undergo Holland America Line‘s Evolution transformation.
The refurbishment will introduce new accommodation categories, expanded public spaces, and guest-favourite venues as the cruise line continues the largest fleet enhancement programme in its 153-year history.
Holland America Line has confirmed that Zuiderdam will be the second vessel to undergo its Evolution programme, following Oosterdam, with bookings for the ship’s post-refurbishment voyages opening on July 30th.
The transformation will bring several signature features from the line’s newer Pinnacle Class ships to Zuiderdam, while also expanding accommodation options to cater for changing passenger demand.
“We’ve seen strong interest in our Bridgeview Suites and Solo Verandahs on Oosterdam, and we’re excited to make these new accommodations available on Zuiderdam,” said Beth Bodensteiner, President, Holland America Line.
“We’re building on that momentum and look forward to sharing more details, including itineraries, very soon,” she added.
Among the most significant changes is the introduction of four new accommodation categories.
The ship will gain two Bridgeview Suites positioned above the bridge, offering wraparound windows, private balconies and separate living and sleeping areas with forward-facing ocean views.
Zuiderdam will also introduce Solo Verandah staterooms designed specifically for solo travellers. Each will feature a private balcony and a layout tailored to single occupancy, reflecting continued growth in demand for independent travel.
The refurbishment will further add 14 Vista Suites, a category previously available only aboard the line’s Pinnacle Class ships, together with a redesigned Pinnacle Suite offering expanded residential-style accommodation with panoramic sea views.
In total, the ship will receive two Bridgeview Suites, 14 Vista Suites and 32 Solo Verandah staterooms, while accommodation across the rest of the vessel will also be refreshed.
Beyond the stateroom enhancements, Zuiderdam will gain Holland America Line’s Grand Dutch Café.
Inspired by the cafés of Amsterdam and Northern Europe, the venue serves coffee, light meals, beers, and aperitifs throughout the day and has become one of the signature public spaces aboard the line’s Pinnacle Class vessels.
The venue aboard Zuiderdam will be the largest Grand Dutch Café introduced as part of the Evolution programme.
The refurbishment represents the latest phase of Holland America Line’s long-term investment in its fleet.
Evolution was announced as the largest fleet enhancement initiative in the company’s history and is intended to introduce a more consistent onboard experience by bringing popular venues, accommodation categories and design elements from newer ships to older vessels.
Oosterdam will be the first ship to complete the programme, with bookings already open for its inaugural post-refurbishment voyages.
Holland America Line has confirmed that six ships will ultimately undergo Evolution transformations, although the remaining vessels have yet to be announced.
