MSC Cruises to introduce new family entertainment concepts aboard MSC World Asia

MSC Cruises has outlined a new range of family-focused entertainment concepts for MSC World Asia.

The announcement comes ahead of the ship’s planned entry into service on seven-night Mediterranean itineraries in December this year.

Central to the onboard offering is the Family Aventura District, a designated area bringing together a number of activity zones including The Clubhouse, The Harbour, and Doremiland.

The concept reflects a continued emphasis on segmenting large ships into themed areas, allowing for a mix of indoor and outdoor activities tailored to different age groups.

The ship will introduce a redesigned version of the Luna Park Arena, positioned as a multi-use venue incorporating digital and interactive elements.

The space is configured with a transformable floor system designed to support gaming and live entertainment formats. Three new game shows—Code Breakers, Labyrinth, and Chart Toppers—are expected to form part of the programme, combining quiz-based and physical challenges within a structured format.

Additional indoor activities are centred around The Clubhouse, which will include a range of facilities such as a LEGO-branded family area, roller skating, bumper cars, and sports sessions.

The venue will also host revised versions of existing MSC formats, including Guinness World Records challenges and MasterChef at Sea Juniors, alongside new concepts such as Out of Control, a timed obstacle-based activity.

Outdoor facilities are grouped within The Harbour, which incorporates attractions such as a rope course, water slides, and a swing installed over the side of the ship. The area also includes a playground and seating zones designed to accommodate mixed-age groups.

The layout is intended to support daytime and evening use, with extended programming after dark.

Dedicated provision for younger passengers is located within Doremiland, a 1,000 square metre complex spanning multiple age-specific zones. These include areas developed in partnership with childcare brand Chicco, alongside spaces for older children and teenagers equipped with gaming facilities, simulators, and structured activity programmes.

Teen-focused programming has been expanded to include evening events hosted by a digital avatar, with activities scheduled across both indoor and outdoor venues. These include adapted versions of the ship’s game shows, as well as music and social events tailored to younger passengers.

The introduction of these concepts forms part of MSC Cruises’ broader strategy for its World Class vessels, which are designed to accommodate high passenger volumes while maintaining differentiated spaces for specific demographics.

By expanding family-oriented facilities and integrating digital and interactive elements, the line is continuing to develop onboard experiences aimed at extended stays and repeat usage across multiple sailings.

The vessel is scheduled to operate sailings calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia, Naples, and Valletta, combining established Western Mediterranean ports with an expanded onboard programme aimed at families and multi-generational groups.
