Carnival Cruise Line is introducing a new Express Dining option across its fleet, allowing guests to complete a multi-course dinner service in under an hour while maintaining the structure of the line’s traditional main dining room experience.
The programme is currently available on 15 ships and is expected to be implemented across the entire fleet by the end of May.
The service is offered each evening in the main dining rooms and is designed for parties of six guests or fewer. It retains a multi-course format but with a slightly reduced menu selection aimed at shortening service times.
“Our guests continue to tell us they value greater flexibility in how they spend their time on board, and Express Dining was designed with that in mind,” said Christine Duffy, President, Carnival Cruise Line.
“Our pilot programme generated positive feedback from our guests. With this in mind, we are excited to expand Express Dining to offer them the same high-quality dishes and attentive service our dining rooms are known for, while giving guests the ability to use more of their time to enjoy all the other onboard activities,” Duffy added.
The introduction of the programme reflects a broader trend within the cruise industry toward offering passengers greater flexibility in how they structure their onboard schedules.
Cruise lines have increasingly adjusted dining formats in response to evolving guest preferences, particularly as ships add larger entertainment programmes and more diverse evening activities.
Under the Express Dining model, guests can request an accelerated service while still receiving a structured meal similar to the standard dining room experience. Menu selections mirror the main dining room offerings but include a more limited range of dishes intended to simplify preparation and service.
Passengers with dietary requirements will continue to be accommodated under the programme, according to the cruise line.
The option is currently available on a number of ships across the Carnival fleet, including several of the company’s largest and most recently introduced vessels. Guests sailing under the line’s Your Time Dining system can select the option through the Carnival HUB mobile application used onboard.
The programme forms part of a wider effort by the cruise line to introduce alternative dining formats designed to appeal to different travel styles and schedules. Carnival has recently expanded other quick-service dining concepts across its ships, reflecting demand for both casual and time-efficient meal options.
One of these initiatives, known as Family Express, provides a simplified service on the Lido Deck aimed at families travelling with children who may prefer shorter meal times.
