Norwegian Luna waterpark
Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of Norwegian Luna, the 21st ship in its fleet and the second vessel in the company’s Prima Plus class, following completion at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera, Italy.
The ship measures approximately 156,000 gross tons and has capacity for 3,565 passengers across 1,809 staterooms. Norwegian Luna will operate as a larger evolution of the Prima-class design introduced earlier in the decade, incorporating additional public spaces, entertainment venues, and dining outlets.
“We are thrilled to welcome Norwegian Luna to our fleet and to welcome our first guests aboard next week,” said Marc Kazlauskas, President, Norwegian Cruise Line.
“As our newest ship, Norwegian Luna is a powerful reflection of NCL’s ‘It’s Different Out Here’ brand ethos. She delivers freedom, flexibility and thoughtfully curated experiences, allowing guests to enjoy their vacation exactly how they want, with ease,” Kazlauskas added.
Public areas on the ship include multiple entertainment venues, activity spaces, and dining concepts. Among the attractions is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid ride combining elements of a waterslide and rollercoaster. Additional recreational facilities include Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement-style space featuring carnival-style games, and Moon Climber, an obstacle course designed for both adults and children.
Indoor activity areas include the Luna Game Zone, which incorporates arcade-style gaming alongside virtual reality attractions. The Glow Court is designed as a multi-use venue with an LED floor that functions as a sports area during the day and converts to a nightlife venue in the evening.
Entertainment on board includes several new stage productions, including “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John™,” as well as the multimedia performance “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder™,” which combines acrobatics, digital design elements, and dance. The live music venue Syd Norman’s Pour House will also feature a new show based on the music of the Eagles.
Dining facilities total 17 venues, complemented by 18 bars and lounges. These include main dining rooms offering rotating menus, a 24-hour casual dining venue, and the Indulge Food Hall, which brings together several food stations serving international cuisine. Speciality restaurants include Le Bistro, the company’s French dining concept, and Sukhothai, a Thai restaurant featuring regional dishes.
Accommodation ranges from inside and oceanview staterooms to balcony cabins and suites. The Haven by Norwegian, the line’s ship-within-a-ship suite complex, offers private accommodation areas, a dedicated restaurant, and concierge and butler services.
Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager Merchant Ships Division, Fincantieri, said the project continues the long-standing relationship between the shipbuilder and the cruise operator.
“We are proud to deliver Norwegian Luna, a ship that truly reflects our ability to interpret and anticipate the evolution of the global cruise industry,” said Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager Merchant Ships Division, Fincantieri.
Following delivery in Italy, Norwegian Luna will undertake a transatlantic voyage before arriving in Miami on March 23, 2026. The vessel is scheduled to be formally christened on March 27 at PortMiami.
During its first year of service, the ship will operate from Miami on a combination of three- and four-day Bahamas cruises and seven-day Caribbean itineraries. Later in the year, the vessel will transition to Western Caribbean sailings visiting destinations including Roatán, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye.
In April 2027, Norwegian Luna will begin seasonal sailings from New York, operating four- to seven-day itineraries to Bermuda with overnight calls at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
