Carnival Cruise Line has returned one ship to service in the United States while another undergoes refurbishment in Asia, as the company continues a programme of mid-life upgrades across its fleet.
Carnival Conquest resumed operations from Miami on February 20th, 2026, following a 12-day dry dock at the Grand Bahama Shipyard. The work introduced new public venues, refreshed family areas, and an expanded casino.
Among the most prominent additions is the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, a venue dedicated to military veterans and active-duty service members. The lounge also supports the charity Operation Homefront through the sale of commemorative merchandise and branded beverages, with funds directed to programmes assisting military families in the United States.
Family and youth facilities were also updated. Club O2, the ship’s teen area, received new gaming spaces and revised décor, while the WAREHOUSE video arcade was renovated with upgraded interactive features. The casino was enlarged and reconfigured with additional gaming positions and a dedicated non-smoking section.
Retail areas on board were also refreshed, including outlets operated by Effy, Pandora, and Swarovski. With the refurbishment completed, Carnival Conquest has resumed year-round short cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean, including visits to Celebration Key on Grand Bahama.
At the same time, Carnival Encounter is undergoing a separate refurbishment in Singapore ahead of its return to Australia. The Brisbane-based ship entered dry dock for a series of passenger-facing upgrades and technical improvements intended to modernise public areas and improve operational efficiency.
The most significant addition is a new Cloud 9 Spa thermal suite complex, incorporating saunas, steam rooms, and heated relaxation areas. Outdoor guest areas are also being refreshed, with all five swimming pools refurbished and the ship’s seven whirlpool tubs replaced. The popular Twin Racer water slides are being refurbished, and the basketball court is being resurfaced with new equipment.
Behind the scenes, energy-saving systems are also being installed, while crew areas are being refurbished to improve accommodation and working conditions.

Carnival Encounter is scheduled to depart Singapore on March 5th, 2026, calling at Lombok and Bali before returning to Brisbane on March 20th. After arrival, the ship will resume year-round itineraries to destinations across Australia and the South Pacific, including Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.
The parallel refits reflect a wider strategy by Carnival Cruise Line to refresh ships across multiple regions simultaneously, aligning onboard amenities while adapting offerings to local homeports and markets.
