MSC Cruises to introduce new family activities at Ocean Cay from January 2026

MSC Cruises has announced an expanded programme of family entertainment at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, with new activities scheduled to begin in January 2026 and further additions to roll out throughout the year.

The developments will increase the range of options available to guests during calls at MSC Cruises’ private island in The Bahamas.

Ocean Cay was once an industrial site but has been redeveloped by MSC Cruises as a beach and nature destination supported by conservation initiatives, featuring eight beaches, opportunities for water-based recreation, and a Marine Conservation Center where guests are introduced to coral restoration work undertaken by the MSC Foundation.

Selected itineraries include late-night and overnight stays, giving passengers more time ashore.

The existing family programming will be expanded with a phased introduction of new island experiences. These will include wellness activities led by trained coaches, an augmented reality treasure hunt with a conservation theme, and a dedicated LEGO pop-up for children and their families.

Wellness and sports programming will be a core part of the expansion, with two professional coaches leading daily sessions. Options will include yoga, functional fitness, and group sports activities throughout the day.

Guests will also have the chance to take part in a fire and ice challenge, combining hot yoga with ice baths, as well as sunrise yoga accompanied by sound healing meditation.

A digital treasure hunt incorporating augmented reality will introduce another dimension to the island experience. Guests using mobile phones or tablets will be guided to various wooden sculptures positioned around Ocean Cay, with each point highlighting a specific ecological challenge and actions being taken to address it.

Children will also be able to learn about native species found on and around the island.

The Welcome Pavilion will feature a LEGO activation designed for younger passengers and their families, including appearances by seven LEGO mascots, and MSC Cruises’ own Doremi character.

The expanded programme will sit alongside existing shore activities such as snorkelling, paddleboarding, and jet skiing.

MSC Cruises said in a release that the full suite of experiences will be introduced in phases over several months, delivering flexible options for guests of all ages during Caribbean itineraries that include Ocean Cay.
