P&O Cruises expands five-berth cabins and family access across fleet

P&O Cruises has expanded its accommodation options for larger families, introducing new five-berth cabins across three of its newest ships, and widening access for younger travellers on selected sailings of two older vessels.

The developments aim to provide families with more practical ways to cruise together amid rising demand for multi-generational travel.

A limited number of five-berth cabins will become available on Britannia, Arvia, and Iona from summer 2026, with Superior Deluxe Balcony cabins on Britannia and Conservatory Mini-suites on Arvia and Iona, designed to sleep up to five guests in a single space.

According to P&O Cruises, 12 such cabins will be offered on Britannia, 15 on Arvia and 23 on Iona, giving families of five the option to remain together, rather than splitting into two staterooms.

The cost for a fifth guest is stated as being no more than the usual supplementary charge applied for a third or fourth guest in a cabin.

In addition to increased accommodation flexibility, children will now be welcome on board Arcadia and Aurora for selected cruises. Normally operating as adult-focused ships, the decision means families will be able to explore a wider variety of itineraries and ship styles during specific times of the year.

These sailings will maintain traditional cruise hallmarks such as set dining and a quieter onboard atmosphere, while still offering entertainment and activities suitable for all ages.

P&O Cruises said the expansion reflects broader shifts in family travel preferences.

“Demand for multi-generational holidays is as strong as ever, and P&O Cruises offers holidays for adventure-seeking teenagers to relaxation-minded parents and everyone in between,” said Ruth Venn, Associate Vice President for Sales and Distribution, P&O Cruises.

“The introduction of five-berth cabins on the Arvia, Britannia and Iona opens up even more opportunities for our valued travel agent partners, and these new cabins remove one of the biggest booking barriers for larger families, making it easier than ever to find the right accommodation at the right value,” she added.

The cruise line also noted that the expanded family-friendly offering forms part of its continued efforts to provide flexible options for guests of different ages and group sizes, meeting the needs of a growing number of families choosing cruising for convenience, organised activities, and varied destinations without the logistics of multiple hotel stays.

P&O Cruises is urging those interested in the new sleeping arrangements or family-inclusive itineraries on Arcadia and Aurora to book early given the limited number of cabins.
