Oceania Cruises unveils new culinary concepts for upcoming Oceania Sonata

Oceania Cruises has announced two new culinary venues that will debut aboard Oceania Sonata when the vessel launches in August 2027, expanding its long-established focus on food and dining.

Oceania Sonata will introduce La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and Nikkei Kitchen.

La Table will be launched with the involvement and approval of Maîtres Cuisiniers de France (Master Chefs of France, MCF), an association dedicated to preserving and advancing French culinary tradition.

Oceania Cruises has strengthened its relationship with the group through its two Executive Culinary Directors, Chefs Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale, who are both members of MCF.

La Table will have seating for 18 guests. Menus will be created by Chefs Quaretti and Barale, together with invited Master Chefs of France from around the world. The venue will also host the Dom Pérignon Experience, a six-course tasting menu paired with three vintage Champagnes.

Nikkei Kitchen will offer a different dining style, influenced by the fusion of Peruvian ingredients and Japanese culinary technique that originated in the 19th century following Japanese migration to Peru. The venue will feature seafood-led dishes that draw on citrus flavours, soy-based sauces, and pepper-driven spice profiles typical of Nikkei cuisine.

Chef Gustavo Sugay has been working with the culinary leadership team on the development of the Nikkei Kitchen menu. He has more than two decades of experience preparing this cuisine and collaborated with the line to introduce 12 Nikkei dishes to Red Ginger in the past year.

According to Oceania Cruises, the interior of Nikkei Kitchen will feature a contemporary, open-kitchen layout aligned with the style of food being served.

“Oceania Sonata represents an incredible opportunity to reimagine the future of our culinary program, while still offering the culinary concepts our guests know and love,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises.

“La Table and Nikkei Kitchen are emblematic of what sets Oceania Cruises apart, thanks to our ability to pair world-class culinary talent with the creative freedom that results in unforgettable dining experiences,” he added. “These new culinary concepts reflect our continued commitment to innovation, and our commitment to serve The Finest Cuisine at Sea.”

La Table will require reservations and will include a surcharge. Nikkei Kitchen will operate without reservations and will be included as part of the specialty dining offering. Further details, including menus, are expected to be confirmed in 2026.

Alongside La Table and Nikkei Kitchen, Oceania Sonata will include ten other dining venues found across the fleet, such as Grand Dining Room, French restaurant Jacques, Red Ginger, Polo Grill, and Toscana.

Oceania Sonata will be the first of four ships in the Sonata Class and the ninth in the fleet. Due to enter service in August 2027, it will accommodate 1,390 passengers and feature an increased proportion of suites compared to previous vessels.
