Norwegian Cruise Line has announced new entertainment programming for its forthcoming ship, Norwegian Luna, including a tribute production inspired by Elton John and a mixed-reality sci-fi show.
Both shows are set to debut when the vessel enters service in March 2026. The company says the additions are intended to broaden onboard experiences for families, music enthusiasts, and passengers seeking late-night programming.
The headline programme is Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John, which Norwegian Cruise Line describes as a concert-style production featuring music from the British singer’s multi-decade career.
It will include recordings and imagery from Elton John’s archive, with live vocal performances and set pieces such as four grand pianos. The show will feature songs including Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Bennie and the Jets, and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.
The second new production is HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder, a show combining gymnastics, mixed-reality visuals, and original music.
It will be staged within the ship’s main theatre and will feature visual effects, 3D mapping, and costuming inspired by science fiction. A new character, HIKO, will appear both in the production and around the vessel during meet-and-greet interactions. The performance will involve four gymnasts, which Norwegian Cruise Line says is the highest number it has used in a single show.
“Norwegian Cruise Line has a proud history of revolutionizing entertainment at sea—from pioneering Broadway-caliber onboard productions to continuously creating original, only-on-NCL experiences,” said Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
“As a lifelong music fan, I’m especially excited to celebrate the work of Elton John, an icon whose influence spans generations, with a show that is as dynamic and unforgettable as the artist himself,” he added. “With Norwegian Luna, we’re building on that tradition by delivering spectacular new productions and immersive programming designed to surprise and delight our guests.”
The cruise line will also introduce a new experience targeted at children. Sea of Discovery! An Under-the-Sea Festival will involve interactive activities designed around a narrative in which participants follow a fish character on an underwater expedition. It will include themed games, costumes, and visual effects.
Additional programming for adults includes LunaTique, a late-night show at The Improv at Sea venue, restricted to guests aged 21 and older. It will feature circus-inspired characters in redesigned costumes and a nightclub setting.
A new tribute act, Syd Norman’s Presents: A Tribute to Eagles will also appear aboard the ship, along with themed deck parties titled Island Nights and Latin LIVE!.
Norwegian Luna will join the fleet in 2026, sailing Caribbean and Bermuda itineraries. The ship’s theatre and nightclub space will convert between show and late-night formats, with the cruise line stating that it intends to incorporate more interactive environments into its entertainment offerings.
