Atlas Ocean Voyages adds 7 pre-cruise safari and land programmes to 2029 Africa season

Atlas Ocean Voyages has added seven pre-cruise safari and land programmes to its 2029 Africa season aboard Atlas Adventurer.

The experiences will operate from Cape Town and Mombasa and are designed to connect with four itineraries during the 400-passenger ship’s inaugural season.

Four programmes will begin in Southern Africa, including safari experiences in Kruger National Park and Botswana, as well as a three-night Cape Winelands itinerary.

“An expedition doesn’t have to begin upon arrival at the yacht,” said James A. Rodriguez, President and Chief Executive Officer, Atlas Ocean Voyages.

“These new safari experiences give our guests the chance to enhance their journey with a truly immersive land excursion encountering Africa’s extraordinary wildlife and landscapes, before they ever set foot aboard Atlas Adventurer,” he added.

The six-night Botswana Safari – Okavango Delta & Chobe programme will begin in Johannesburg before travelling into Botswana. Passengers will stay at Chief’s Camp on Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta’s Moremi Game Reserve before continuing to Chobe Chilwero.

The itinerary also includes an overnight stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel and a guided visit to Victoria Falls before passengers fly to Cape Town to board Atlas Adventurer. Prices start from US$17,379.

Two programmes will offer safari experiences in and around Kruger National Park.

A three-night itinerary, priced from US$8,389, includes an overnight stay in Johannesburg before passengers fly to Skukuza and continue to Lion Sands Narina Lodge. The reserve spans areas of Sabi Sand and Kruger National Park.

A four-night Northern Kruger programme will include a stay at &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge, located within a private concession in Kruger National Park. Activities include twice-daily game drives, guided nature walks, and optional rhino conservation experiences. Prices start from US$8,469.

The three-night Cape Winelands Discovery programme, meanwhile, will be based at Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek. It includes visits to Paarl and Stellenbosch, wine tastings, a journey on the Franschhoek Wine Tram, and a cable-car ascent of Table Mountain before transfer to the Cape Town cruise terminal.

Three additional pre-voyage programmes will operate from Mombasa, covering destinations in Kenya including Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East National Park, Laikipia, and the Masai Mara.

The options range from a three-night Amboseli and Tsavo East safari, starting at US$3,679, to a seven-night itinerary across three private reserves, priced from US$26,969.

The land programmes will connect with four Atlas Adventurer voyages departing between March and April 2029. These include 14-night sailings between Mombasa and Cape Town, a 45-night voyage from Cape Town to Athens, and a 10-night itinerary from Mombasa to Mahé.

The 24 March departure will sail for 14 nights from Mombasa to Cape Town, followed by a return 14-night voyage departing Cape Town on 7 April.

The same date will see Atlas Adventurer begin a 45-night voyage from Cape Town to Athens, while a 10-night Mombasa-to-Mahé itinerary will depart on 21 April.

Atlas Adventurer is scheduled to join the Atlas Ocean Voyages fleet in November 2028 before beginning its inaugural season.
