Silversea introduces new fare structure and evolves shorex programme

Silversea has introduced a new fare structure aimed at providing guests with greater flexibility and choice across its fleet of oceangoing and expedition vessels.

The changes include three distinct fare types and a restructured approach to shore excursions and land-based experiences.

The new structure introduces three categories of fares, designed to reflect different levels of flexibility and inclusions.

Three new fare structures:

All-Inclusive Plus Fare: This option will offer a refundable deposit and access to Silversea’s Fare Guarantee Programme. For oceangoing voyages, it will also include a credit towards shore excursions, the amount of which will depend on itinerary length and region. Expedition sailings will continue to include a broader package of shore activities such as Zodiac tours, expert lectures, in-country flights and hotel nights where required.

All-Inclusive Fare: Available only on oceangoing cruises, this fare type requires a non-refundable deposit. Guests will purchase shore excursions separately, either in advance or during the voyage.

Last-Minute Fare: This option will be available within five months of departure on select itineraries. It requires full payment at the time of booking and carries a non-refundable deposit, offering a lower entry price for late bookers.

Across all fares, guests will retain the ability to purchase flights, hotel stays, transfers, and curated land tours through Silversea. Onboard inclusions, covering dining, beverages, and other elements of the line’s all-inclusive offering, will remain unchanged.

Bert Hernandez, President of Silversea, described the changes as a response to guest feedback.

“Our guests consistently tell us that they value flexibility in their travels. With our new fare options, we’re empowering them to personalise every aspect of their journey while continuing to enjoy our signature all-inclusive onboard experience,” he said.

Evolution of shore excursions

Coinciding with the new fare model, Silversea is also expanding and reclassifying its shore excursion programme.

The revised structure will include five categories of land experiences:

Highlight Experiences: traditional tours of major landmarks.

Signature Experiences: smaller, specially designed tours developed by Silversea.

Private Experiences: exclusive tours for small groups.

Custom Experiences: individually tailored tours.

Overland Experiences: extended inland trips of two to three days, available on select itineraries.

In addition, the line has recently launched City Stays by Silversea, offering pre- and post-cruise hotel packages in embarkation and debarkation ports such as Copenhagen, Rome, Barcelona, and Athens.

These packages include accommodation in centrally located hotels with added services and curated tours designed to extend the cultural immersion of a voyage.

The move reflects a broader industry trend towards greater personalisation, with luxury and expedition operators seeking to balance flexibility in pricing with comprehensive onboard inclusions.

Silversea’s new fare structure underscores the growing emphasis on tailoring the cruise experience to individual guest preferences, while its expanded land programmes highlight the demand for deeper regional engagement.
