MSC Cruises has added a new sailing from Durban to MSC Armonia’s first South African season, bringing its debut forward to November 23^rd, 2026.

The four-night cruise will depart from the Nelson Mandela Cruise Terminal in Durban and sail to Pomene in Mozambique, becoming the first departure of the ship’s 2026/27 local programme.

MSC Armonia is scheduled to operate more than 30 cruises from Durban and Cape Town during the season, ranging from short voyages to longer regional itineraries.

For this special departure, we are curating a unique entertainment programme that will offer guests an exciting preview of what they can expect throughout the rest of the season,” said Ross Volk, Managing Director, MSC Cruises South Africa.

The additional sailing comes ahead of MSC Armonia’s wider programme in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean.

Destinations scheduled during the season include Portuguese Island and Pomene in Mozambique, Port Louis in Mauritius, La Possession in Réunion, and Walvis Bay in Namibia.

The new four-night itinerary will focus on Pomene, located within Mozambique’s Pomene Nature Reserve on the Indian Ocean coast.

MSC Armonia will be making its first appearance in South Africa during the 2026-2027 season. The ship can accommodate approximately 2,500 passengers across 13 decks.

Its onboard facilities include four restaurants, multiple bars and lounges, two swimming pools, outdoor areas, a Technogym fitness centre, and the MSC Aurea Spa.

Facilities for younger passengers include dedicated children’s and teenagers’ clubs, alongside age-specific activities and entertainment.

The addition of the November 23^rd departure follows a change to MSC Armonia’s planned repositioning to South Africa.

MSC Cruises recently cancelled the ship’s scheduled 26-night voyage from Marghera, Italy, to Durban due to the geopolitical situation affecting the Suez Canal and Red Sea region.

That repositioning cruise had been due to depart Italy on November 1^st 2026 and visit destinations in Croatia and Greece before transiting the Suez Canal. Calls at Aqaba, Mahé, Diego Suarez, and Port Louis were also planned before the ship’s arrival in Durban.

The cancellation did not affect MSC Armonia’s planned South African cruise season, which will now begin with the newly added Durban-to-Pomene sailing on 23 November.

Bookings are currently open for the ship’s 2026/27 programme.
