Pullmantur’s Horizon to homeport in Dubai again for 2020/21 cruise season

The Spanish cruise line Pullmantur, part of the Royal Caribbean Cruises group, will send its cruise ship Horizon to Dubai for the 2020/21 cruise season.

This will be the ship’s third cruise season in Dubai, cruising roundtrip from the city around the Arabian Gulf to key cruise destinations in the region.

Her 7-night cruises will alternate between the eastern and western parts of the Arabian Gulf.

The eastern itineraries will visit Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain and Khasab, with an overnight in Dubai on the first night of the cruise.

The western itineraries will visit Abu Dhabi, and Muscat and Khassab in Oman, with an overnight in both Dubai, on the first night of the cruise, and Abu Dhabi.

Horizon will arrive in the Middle East at the end of November, and will sail these alternating itineraries in the Arabian Gulf from November 28th, 2020 to March 7th, 2021.

On March 13th, she’ll depart Dubai for the 15-night repositioning cruise back to Piraeus (for Athens).

Horizon, built in 1990, is the oldest of the nine cruise ships due to homeport in Dubai for the 2020/21 cruise season, but has a modern, elegant feel to her thanks to a major refurbishment in 2009.

If you like the bells and whistles at sea, like F1 simulators and bowling alleys, she’s not the ship for you. Horizon is laid-back and low-key, like the rest of the Pullmantur fleet, which is targeted almost exclusively at the Spanish-speaking cruise market.

Horizon features four bars two lounges (including a cigar bar) and three dining options, more than one would expect aboard a ship this size. There’s even a kids’ club and of course a Broadway-style show lounge.

Pullmantur offers high-quality cruises with a decidedly Spanish flare that are also good value-for-money.

As such, it attracts a decent number of international passengers, although the vast majority are Spanish, because, like P&O Australia, it markets only to its home market.

The cruise experience is largely bilingual with printed materials and announcements in Spanish and English.

During her 2020/21 cruise season in the Arabian Gulf, Horizon will use Dubai as the principle homeport, but will also be offering guests the option to embark and disembark in Abu Dhabi instead.
