Disney Cruise Line has announced that Disney Wonder will undergo a partial refurbishment in 2019 ahead of her upcoming cruise seasons in San Diego, Galveston and New Orleans.
The refurb will see the addition of a new lounge inspired by New Orleans, where passengers will dance to a live band and costumed performers. It is intended to bring the setting of “The Princess and the Frog” to life and will compliment the existing Tiana’s Place restaurant.

Two new retreats will also be added to the ship, one for adults and one for teens, while Vide, the existing teen’s club, will be redesigned with a lighter color scheme and industrial metal accents. It will also receive updated virtual reality technology and a new coffee bar.
Other redesigns will include the Cove Café within the adults-only enclave, and Signals Bar on Deck 9 adjacent the Cove pool area.
The upgrades will debut on Disney Wonder’s September 2019 voyage from Vancouver to San Diego. Throughout October she will cruise roundtrip on 2, 4, 5 and 7-night roundtrip cruises to the Mexican Riviera.
From November to mid-January she will cruise roundtrip from Galveston, Texas on 4, 6 and 7-night cruises to the Western Caribbean, before sailing two 7-night cruises from San Juan and then repositioning to New Orleans for February, 2020.

Disney Wonder will then return to San Diego for March and April before cruising further south to begin her Alaskan itineraries out of Vancouver.
Disney Wonder was last refurbished in 2016, during which Frozen A Musical Spectacular was added, as well as imaginative spaces for kids (Marvel Academy), a jazzy restaurant (Tiana’s Place) and the English pub Crown & Fin.
Carrying 2,400 passengers and at 84,130-gross tons, Disney Wonder is one of two smaller sister ships (Disney Magic being the other) in the 4-ship Disney fleet.
The cruise line has ordered three new Triton-class cruise ships from Meyer-Werft. At 140,000-gross tons and carrying more than 4,000 passengers they will be the largest cruise ships ever operated by Disney Cruise Line.
They’re due to be delivered in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and will cruise roundtrip from Miami and Port Canaveral.
