When Cunard’s second-youngest cruise liner Queen Victoria arrives in South Africa on April 12th, 2019, she will be almost a brand-new ship, at least when it comes to all her interiors.
The 90,049-gross ton, 294m cruise liner is set to undergo a massive multi-million pound refit that will extend her cruising life for another ten years.
The Grand Suites and Deck 8 aft Penthouse Suites, will be redesigned and.43 brand new Britannia Club category staterooms with their own dedicated restaurant will be added.
Refreshed designs will include a new colour scheme that takes its inspiration from the line’s history with its signature Cunard purple.
The suites will include floor-to-ceiling windows and doors; a separate service entrance and hospitality preparation area; separate snug room with TV; beautifully-appointed lounge; master bathroom with sea view; second bathroom with guest access; bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling; walk-in wardrobe with additional storage units; and a generous dual aspect balcony.

A new Chart Room will debut on Deck 2 off the Grand Lobby, where Café Carinthia is currently located. The Chart Room will feature illy coffee, Godiva chocolate treats and light bites by day and stellar cocktails by night.
Cunard will also introduce a “gin and fizz” themed menu to the Midships Lounge, including a variety of wines, Proseccos, Cavas and Champagne alongside premium spirits, all blended to create fresh and inspiring cocktails with a modern twist.
Cunard Line’s Cape Town to Southampton cruise on April 12th, 2019 is also notable for the 9-day stretch of sea days between a port call in Walvis Bay and Gran Canaria.
By limiting ports of call on the West African cruise itinerary to just two, Cunard Line have recreated the express nature of the Southampton-Cape Town liner service, cutting the cruise length to just 16 days.
Princes for this cruise start at around R30,000 for an inside cabin.
