MSC Cruises expands spa concept across fleet with new wellness and beauty services

MSC Cruises is introducing a new range of wellness and beauty experiences across its fleet.

The enhancements, which will be rolled out throughout 2026, significantly broaden the scope of the line’s spa offering to include medical wellness services, advanced skincare technologies, and personalised treatments.

The new programme transforms the MSC Aurea Spa from a traditional cruise spa into a more comprehensive wellness and beauty destination, reflecting growing demand among travellers for health and self-care experiences during their holidays.

Aurea Spa expansion will offer services more commonly associated with land-based wellness resorts

MSC Cruises said the expanded offering is intended to bring together luxury spa rituals, advanced beauty treatments, and personalised wellness services that are increasingly associated with land-based wellness resorts.

The initiative comes at a time when wellness tourism has become one of the fastest-growing segments of the global travel industry, with operators across the travel sector introducing experiences focused on physical wellbeing, relaxation, and preventative health.

Among the new services being introduced are medical wellness treatments, which will initially be available on selected ships in North America from summer 2026.

The offering includes intravenous therapy, aesthetic injectables, dermal fillers, and permanent make-up procedures performed by licensed professionals, representing one of the most extensive wellness programmes currently available aboard a cruise ship.

MSC Cruises is also introducing advanced skincare technologies, including hydro-microdermabrasion treatments and skincare products from British brand Opatra London.

Guests will additionally have access to artificial intelligence-powered skin assessments designed to provide personalised treatment recommendations and guidance on skincare products and routines.

Beyond aesthetic treatments, the expanded spa concept places greater emphasis on holistic wellbeing and relaxation.

A new Japanese-inspired head spa treatment, focused on scalp and hair wellness, will be introduced across the fleet from summer 2026. The ritual draws on traditional Japanese wellness practices and is designed to provide both therapeutic benefits and relaxation.

Other additions include advanced teeth-whitening services performed by qualified specialists and a new range of men’s grooming treatments, including scalp consultations and therapeutic massages.

The cruise line is also adding professional piercing services using hypoallergenic jewellery.

The expanded wellness experience extends beyond treatment rooms. Guests using the MSC Aurea Spa will be able to enjoy a curated menu of wellness teas developed in partnership with Team Dr Joseph, intended to complement spa treatments and support relaxation and recovery.

From summer 2026, selected spa guests will also receive a premium wellness pochette containing curated products and amenities, including branded flip-flops, shaving kits, and other wellness items.

The latest enhancements underline the increasingly important role wellness is playing within the cruise industry.

Historically focused on massages and beauty treatments, onboard spas have evolved significantly in recent years as cruise lines seek to broaden their appeal and cater to travellers who increasingly view holidays as an opportunity to invest in their physical and mental wellbeing.
