Azamara Cruises has continued the rollout of its revamped onboard entertainment programme, with Azamara Journey becoming the second vessel in the fleet to debut new stage productions developed in partnership with RWS Global.
The launch forms part of a broader fleet-wide entertainment overhaul that began aboard Azamara Pursuit in April and represents the latest phase of the cruise line’s multi-year effort to modernise its onboard experience.
The new productions premiered during Azamara Journey’s Spain Intensive voyage departing on May 21st, introducing two shows created exclusively for the vessel.
“Entertainment is an essential part of the onboard experience, and we’re excited to continue evolving our programming aboard Azamara Journey,” said Simon Blacoe, Vice President of Hotel Operations, Azamara Cruises.
“These new productions bring together incredible talent, memorable music, and immersive storytelling to create dynamic performances that guests can enjoy throughout their sailing,” he said.
The first of the new productions, Rendezvous in Paris, is a cabaret-style show inspired by the music of Édith Piaf and Moulin Rouge, featuring audience participation and costumes influenced by the historic Lido de Paris.
The second, Cinemaphonic, combines classic Hollywood-inspired themes with contemporary pop music in a theatrical revue format.
The additions build on a wider entertainment strategy unveiled earlier this year aboard Azamara Pursuit, which became the first ship to introduce the new programming.
That launch included two vessel-exclusive productions, Viva Vegas and Yesterday, Today and Forever, alongside two fleet-wide shows that will eventually be rolled out across all four ships.
According to the cruise line, the refreshed programme is intended to better align onboard entertainment with its destination-focused cruise experience, incorporating more narrative-driven productions, contemporary staging, and immersive elements.
The wider entertainment initiative represents an expansion of Azamara’s relationship with RWS Global, which began in 2017. The programme incorporates live musicians, multimedia elements, interactive staging, and storytelling-led performances designed specifically for the small-ship cruise market.
Two productions are also being introduced fleet-wide. Written in the Stars follows a theatrical storyline centred on two star-crossed lovers guided by celestial characters, while Vinyl Records: The Studio Sessions recreates the atmosphere of a vintage recording studio through music, dance, and multimedia effects.
The fleet-wide productions are scheduled to debut aboard Azamara Quest on November 26th, 2026, and Azamara Onward on April 13th, 2027.
The entertainment overhaul comes alongside the line’s broader Azamara Forward initiative, which has included ship refurbishments and enhancements to public spaces, accommodation, and guest facilities across the fleet.
