Emerald Cruises & Tours has launched its newest superyacht, Emerald Kaia, following a transit through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal that it brought it into the Mediterranean.
Emerald Kaia will commence its inaugural voyage from Limassol, with Adriatic, Indian Ocean and East African cruises also scheduled through 2027.
The delivery comes alongside the successful river trials of Emerald Astra, a newbuild river vessel set to enter service in May 2026 across the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers, signalling parallel expansion across both ocean and river segments.
“The launch of Emerald Kaia and the upcoming inaugural sailing of Emerald Astra in May mark important milestones for Scenic Group as we celebrate 40 years of innovation in travel,” said Glen Moroney, Chairman and Founder, Scenic Group, the parent company of Emerald Cruises & Tours.
“As the only cruise company that designs, builds, and operates our own ships, we continue to set new benchmarks in luxury yacht and river cruising,” he added. “Driven by technical excellence and a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.”
Emerald Kaia represents the latest addition to the company’s yacht cruise portfolio, building on the design platform established by earlier vessels while introducing expanded public areas, updated interiors, and a broader onboard offering.
The vessel features a curated collection of contemporary design elements and furnishings, alongside increased outdoor space intended to enhance the connection to coastal destinations.
“Emerald Kaia represents the next evolution of Emerald Yacht Cruises with more space, enhanced wellness, innovative dining concepts, and a considered yacht experience,” said James Griffiths, General Manager of Oceans Operations, Scenic Group. “All designed to deliver the intimate, relaxed atmosphere our guests love. Seeing her in operation and welcoming our first guests is the most rewarding proof that this evolution in our fleet is the right one.”
Dining onboard is structured around multiple venues, including the signature La Cucina restaurant, an open-plan concept with indoor and alfresco seating, and Soleá Bar & Bistro, located adjacent to the Vitality Pool and offering Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
A smaller-format Night Market Grill provides a private dining experience for up to eight guests, drawing on flavours influenced by Asian markets.
Wellness facilities are concentrated on a redesigned Wellness Deck, which includes salt therapy lounges, a cold plunge pool, and a full-service spa, alongside integrated access to fitness areas and the vessel’s marina platform.
Accommodation comprises suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, with the introduction of interconnecting configurations intended to accommodate families and groups, reflecting a broader shift towards flexible onboard layouts.
Following its initial Mediterranean deployment, Emerald Kaia is scheduled to operate Adriatic itineraries through 2026 and 2027, including eight- and 15-day sailings between Venice and Dubrovnik.
The vessel will then reposition to the Indian Ocean, operating in the Seychelles from December 2026 through March 2027, with itineraries ranging from eight to 20 days, including combined cruise and safari programmes in East Africa.
The introduction of Emerald Kaia forms part of a wider fleet expansion strategy, with additional yachts Emerald Raiya and Emerald Xara scheduled to join in 2027 and 2028, respectively, alongside existing vessels Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara.
At the same time, the river segment continues to expand, with Emerald Astra completing trials ahead of its European debut. Two further river ships, Emerald Lumi on the Seine and Emerald Nova on the Douro, are planned for 2027.
