Norwegian Cruise Line has sent Norwegian Sun into drydock in Singapore ahead of her 22-night sailing from Cape Town to Southampton in May 2026.
Departing on May 10th, 2026, the itinerary will connect Southern Africa with Europe via a series of West African and Atlantic island ports.
The voyage includes calls at Walvis Bay, Luanda, Takoradi, Abidjan, and Dakar, before continuing to the Canary Islands, Madeira, and northern Spain ahead of its arrival in Southampton on June 1st, 2026.
The grand African voyage is notable for its inclusion of less-frequented cruise destinations in West Africa, including Takoradi in Ghana, Abidjan in Ivory Coast, and Luanda in Angola, alongside established ports such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Funchal, and Vigo.
The deployment follows an 11-day drydock at a shipyard in Singapore, where the 2,000-passenger vessel arrived on April 2nd, 2026 after completing a winter season in Southeast Asia and the Far East. The work is understood to include routine maintenance and class-related upgrades.
Following completion of the drydock work, the ship is scheduled to resume service on April 13th, 2026 from Singapore, beginning a 16-night repositioning cruise to Port Louis in Port Louis.
This itinerary includes calls in Thailand, the Maldives, Seychelles, and Madagascar, effectively positioning the vessel into the Indian Ocean ahead of its African deployment.
An additional 11-night cruise in the region is scheduled prior to the Cape Town departure. Sailing from Port Louis in Mauritius on April 29th, the voyage features ports in Madagascar, Réunion, and Port Elizabeth and Mossel Bay in South Africa.
After completing its Cape Town–Southampton voyage, Norwegian Sun will enter a summer season in Northern Europe, operating itineraries across the region before repositioning again in mid-October. The vessel is expected to cross the Atlantic to New York City before continuing to Miami for the winter season.
Looking further ahead, the ship’s long-term deployment is set to change following its transfer to Cordelia Cruises. Acquired in 2025, Norwegian Sun is scheduled to leave Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet in late 2027 after an additional European summer season.
The vessel will be renamed Cordelia Sun and is expected to operate domestic itineraries in India, joining its sister ship Norwegian Sky as part of the brand’s expanding fleet in the region.
