Norwegian Cruise Line targets South African demand with biggest Black Friday yet

Norwegian Cruise Line has launched its biggest Black Friday sale to date, offering 50% off all cruises and bringing back its popular Free at Sea package, as the company looks to capture growing interest in cruise holidays among South African travellers.

The limited-time sale, which closes in December, applies to all itineraries across Norwegian Cruise Line’s global fleet, including the new Norwegian Aqua and the soon-to-debut Norwegian Luna.

South African guests can choose from voyages to nearly 350 destinations worldwide, including the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, and the Bahamas, where the line operates its private island, Great Stirrup Cay.

“With 50% off all cruises, now is the best time to plan your 2026 family vacation,” said Nirosha Sidat, Norwegian Cruise Line Country Manager, Africa. “NCL’s curated itineraries and shipboard experiences allow our guests to effortlessly reconnect with those who matter all while maximising value to make the most of every moment.”

The return of the Free at Sea package marks the revival of one of the line’s most popular promotions. Available on all sailings, it includes unlimited open bar service with premium spirits, 150 minutes of high-speed internet, three specialty dining experiences for the first and second guest, and a US$50 credit towards each shore excursion for the first guest on the booking.

Norwegian says the refreshed package will deliver “more value to a greater percentage of guests,” with expanded Wi-Fi access, added savings on drinks packages, and additional dining credits. The sale coincides with the cruise line’s expanding presence in the African market, where more travellers are booking cruise holidays through international lines.

Cruise travel has gained momentum among South African consumers in recent years, supported by improving flight connectivity to European and Middle Eastern cruise hubs and growing awareness of cruise value offerings.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s regional outreach, including locally tailored marketing campaigns and partnerships with travel agencies, has positioned the brand as one of the most visible international operators promoting cruise travel in South Africa.

As part of its 2026 deployment, the line will operate 18 ships in the Caribbean and Bahamas, with itineraries ranging from three to ten nights. It will also have nine ships sailing across Europe and three ships in Alaska, including the Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Joy, and Norwegian Bliss.

“The Black Friday sale applies to all Norwegian itineraries and ships,” the company said. “Guests can take advantage of this offer to book their next bucket-list trip to Alaska, Europe, the Caribbean, the Bahamas and more.”

With the sale now live and valid through December, NCL aims to boost advance bookings ahead of the 2026 summer season, offering South African holidaymakers more accessible routes to explore global cruise destinations at a lower entry cost.
