Disney takes delivery of new Disney Destiny ahead of November 2025 debut

Disney Cruise Line has taken delivery of its newest ship, Disney Destiny, during a ceremony in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, marking the completion of construction and the formal handover from German shipbuilder Meyer Werft.

Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences, accepted the ship on behalf of Disney Cruise Line, joined by Sharon Siskie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Cruise Line, and Captain Andy McRonald, who will lead the vessel on its transatlantic voyage to its new homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

The handover marks the end of the ship’s newbuild phase and the beginning of final preparations for its maiden season.

The 144,000-gross-ton Disney Destiny is the third ship in Disney’s Wish class, following Disney Wish (delivered 2022) and Disney Treasure (delivered 2024). It will set sail from Port Everglades on November 20th, 2025, for its inaugural season of four- and five-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean. 

The itineraries will include visits to Disney Cruise Line’s private island, Castaway Cay, and its recently opened destination at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

Drawing on the theme Heroes and Villains, Disney Destiny celebrates the larger-than-life characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel through immersive design, entertainment, and dining. For the first time in Disney Cruise Line history, a Marvel Super Hero, Spider-Man, will appear as the ship’s stern character, depicted alongside his Spider-Bots in an intricate sculpture on the vessel’s aft filigree.

Inside, guests will find the ship’s Grand Hall inspired by the vibrant design motifs of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, with a central statue of the hero himself. The space will transform dynamically during live performances and interactive events, using lighting and visual effects that respond to visiting characters.

Among Disney Destiny’s standout features will be Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King, a first-of-its-kind dining experience inspired by The Lion King, complete with live storytelling, music, and cuisine featuring African-inspired flavours. Returning concepts will include Worlds of Marvel, featuring Rocket and Groot, and 1923, themed around the golden age of Disney animation.

Entertainment highlights will include the all-new Broadway-style production Disney Hercules, staged in the Walt Disney Theatre, alongside returning favourites Frozen: A Musical Spectacular and Disney Seas the Adventure. The ship will also introduce new experiences centred on Disney’s most notorious villains, from Cruella de Vil’s fashion challenge to Loki’s ship-wide antics, alongside the Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party fireworks spectacular.

Disney Destiny’s upper decks will feature three themed pool districts and a new AquaMouse water coaster storyline, Sing a Silly Song, where guests encounter Disney Animation villains during a whimsical ascent up Villain Mountain. 

Younger passengers will have their own adventures in spaces themed around Marvel, Star Wars, and classic Disney characters, while adults can retreat to exclusive venues such as De Vil’s piano lounge, The Sanctum (inspired by Doctor Strange), and Cask & Cannon, a pirate-themed pub.

Disney Destiny will accommodate families with spacious staterooms featuring split bathrooms and interconnecting options. Concierge-level guests will enjoy exclusive access to a private lounge and sundeck, while themed suites are inspired by Hercules, The Incredibles, and Iron Man. The signature Destiny Tower Suite, located in the ship’s forward funnel, will pay tribute to Tony Stark’s design aesthetic, offering nearly 2,000 square feet of panoramic living space.
