Royal Caribbean to add 40 new staterooms to Ovation of the Seas during refit

Royal Caribbean International has confirmed that Ovation of the Seas will receive 40 additional staterooms as part of its upcoming Royal Amplified refurbishment.

Built in 2016, the Quantum Class ship is scheduled to enter drydock ahead of its 2026 summer season in Alaska.

According to Royal Caribbean, most of the new accommodation will be added on Decks 12, 13 and 16, in spaces currently occupied by a conference centre, a suite lounge and part of the fitness centre.

A further 19 cabins will be introduced on Decks 5 and 9, replacing technical areas and the vessel’s Photo Gallery.

The work will also bring several changes to Ovation’s public spaces. Casino Royale is set to expand into the former lower level of Music Hall on Deck 3, while the upper level of that venue will be replaced by a new nightclub on Deck 4. The dessert shop Le Patisserie will be converted into a Starbucks outlet.

Dining and bar options are being reconfigured as well. The Bionic Bar is to be replaced by the Pesky Parrot Bar, first introduced on Utopia of the Seas in 2024. Wonderland will make way for Izumi Teppanyaki, while Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen will take over the space previously occupied by Jamie’s Italian.

The Suite Lounge, which is being displaced from Deck 12 by new cabins, will be relocated to the area currently used as a teen lounge on Deck 14.

The Ovation project forms part of a wider refurbishment plan announced earlier this year that also includes Harmony of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas. Royal Caribbean said the work is aimed at “amplifying the vacation offerings” across the three vessels.

Updates to Ovation of the Seas

Ovation of the Seas will see a redesigned pool deck with private casitas and a new whirlpool, along with expanded dining including Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Izumi Teppanyaki.

A new tiki bar, Pesky Parrot, and the Sound Cellar nightclub will be added, while the Casino Royale will be enlarged.

Accommodation updates include the addition of the Ultimate Family Suite and Panoramic Suite, as well as 40 new staterooms across multiple decks.
