Contractor details refit work carried out aboard Norwegian Encore in France

One of the contractors involved in the refit work aboard Norwegian Encore has detailed some of the work that took place at the Damen shipyard in Brest, France.

Gerolamo Scorza S.p.A., a member of Genova Industrie Navali S.p.A., completed four refit projects aboard Norwegian Encore within a two-week deadline, including the conversion of a tender lobby into a retail boutique.

Gerolamo Scorza also reinstalled the metallic ceiling and renovated tiles in Encore’s American Diner restaurant, and installed a new counter at the ship’s Cruise Next office, while new customised furnishings were added to the onboard photo gallery.

“This project gave us the chance to showcase both our technical skills and our craftsmanship attitude, as some furniture was manufactured in our workshop,” the company said.

Norwegian Encore welcomed guests back onboard on December 3rd, 2024, for a trans-Atlantic crossing and is now homeporting in Miami, sailing roundtrip Caribbean itineraries.

The 2019-built vessel underwent a major refurbishment that included the creation of new features onboard based on guests’ feedback, including the debut of Spice H2O, a complimentary adults-only sun deck created in the area previously occupied by the ship’s laser tag arena.

It is equipped with multiple hot tubs, eight large day beds surrounded by cooling pools and a large bar serving a variety of cocktails.

Other enhancements included the expansion of two of Norwegian’s specialty dining venues, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki, as well as the addition of over 20 new balcony cabins.

Teppanyaki, the hibachi-style restaurant, now offers greater capacity by taking over Los Lobos’ footprint on deck eight and Coco’s on deck six. Additionally, Ocean Blue was converted to the guest-favorite Palomar, boasting elevated Mediterranean seafood cuisine.

The ship’s Haven suite enclave was also updated with an expanded Premier Owner’s Suite, which now offers new bedrooms in addition to fully renovated living rooms and a new separate dining room.

“Our guests’ wants and needs are at the forefront of every decision that we make, and enhancing Norwegian Encore with more of the experiences they value showcases our commitment to just that,” said David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, when the refit was first announced

Norwegian Encore also underwent technical work, including class overhauls, planned routine maintenance and more.
