New TUI ship Mein Schiff Relax completes post-sea trials work ahead of delivery

TUI Cruises’ upcoming new cruise ship Mein Schiff Relax has completed a post-sea trials drydock ahead of her delivery, which is scheduled for early 2025.

The LNG-powered vessel is the first in a new series of ships designed for the German cruise line, with her sister ship Mein Schiff Flow already under construction.

The InTUItion class represents a significant expansion for the line, combining increased capacity with eco-friendly technology.

The class will introduce a more open, “airy” design, creating a relaxed onboard atmosphere with features like panoramic windows, extensive lounging spaces, and a unique shadow-roof structure designed to provide cooling airflow and dappled sunlight.

TUI’s Mein Schiff Relax floated out in 2023 and recently sailed from its building dock for a series of sea trials in the Mediterranean, following which she went into drydock at Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard for a hull check and cosmetic work.

The ship has now sailed another set of sea trials and returned to Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard where her construction took place.

In addition to staff from the shipyard, representatives from TUI Cruises and the ship’s classification society were on board during these latest trials.

Mein Schiff Relax is scheduled to debut in Spring 2025, offering a series of 7- to 10-night cruises to the Western Mediterranean from mid-March.

The itineraries sail from Palma de Mallorca and feature visits to destinations in Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and Morocco.

In October, the ship will reposition to Tenerife for a winter season cruising around the Canary Islands and Madeira.

The 161,000-ton inTUItion class is constructed to accommodate nearly 4,000 guests, meeting growing demand for immersive and environmentally responsible cruise experiences.

Guests will have access to 14 restaurants and bistros and 17 bars and lounges.

Dining options are diverse, with venues such as the Harbour Market offering global flavors in a market-style setup, Taverna Dionysos focusing on authentic Greek cuisine, and Sur Mer Bistrot providing French-inspired seafood.

Additional venues include Italian classics at Osteria – Pizza e Pasta, Asian fusion at Fugu, and Scandinavian dishes at the upscale Høfde.

For onboard experiences, Mein Schiff Relax offers extensive wellness and leisure amenities. Highlights include a range of saunas, the Arena Sports Complex for various sports activities, and the Infinity Pool with uninterrupted ocean views.

Family-friendly features like Pirates Island Kids Club and a water playground provide entertainment for younger passengers, while the Blauer Balkon (Blue Balcony) and Thalia Leselounge (Reading Lounge) cater to relaxation and scenic enjoyment for all ages.
