Virgin Voyages debuts ‘Massive’ RockStar suites aboard Scarlet Lady

There will be 78 RockStar suites, ranging from ‘serious’ and ‘brilliant’ to ‘fab’ and ‘massive’ aboard Scarlet Lady, the first cruise ship from Virgin Voyages, the cruise line has announced.

The ship will feature 78 of these RockStar suites, each designed by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio.

They will have an under-trendy, modern design that blends cruise cabin functionality with yacht-like touches like leather finishes, brass makeup vanities (Virgin calls them ‘glam stations) and marble ensuites.

Giving each suite a personal touch akin to the Owner’s Suite aboard most luxury cruise lines, they will also all have working vinyl turntables (with a collection of classic records), full bars and cocktail kits with the first round on the house, and other Instagram-ready touches like terrace hammocks and king-size beds.

Passengers staying in these suites will also get “backstage” (early) access to onboard entertainment, dining, priority boarding, priority access to shore excursions (called ‘shore things’) and even private transfers to and from the ship in Miami.

When they first board, guests in the suites will also have a “wardrobe team” to help unpack and repack, as well as a complimentary pressing service and nightly express swimsuit drying service. Anyone staying in a RockStar suite will also have access to Richard’s Rooftop, a suite passenger-only top-deck lounge.

“Virgin has always avoided stuffy formalities and brought a lot of excitement and a bit of rebelliousness to our customer experiences,” explains Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group. “With these glamorous suites, Virgin Voyages is bringing back rock and roll to the high seas and spoiling our sailors like the rock stars they are.”

All MegaSuites within the RockStar Suites area will have peek-a-boo showers on the balconies.

These suites will have the best views of all staterooms on the ship, with a top deck location and private balconies that feature peek-a-boo showers with inset windows overlooking the ocean.

They’ll have mood lighting that automatically adjusts to match the time of day, as well as tablets that guests can use to adjust the lighting and climate controls.

There are eight different types of RockStar suite aboard Scarlet Lady, four ‘Suites’ and four ‘Mega Suites’.

The Suites:

Seriously Suite: The 24 Seriously Suites are 352-square foot cabins (this includes the balcony) and will feature a fully stocked bar, peek-a-boo shower and balcony hammock.

Brilliant Suite: The 18 Brilliant Suites are 481 square feet (this includes the balcony) with an open floor plan featuring a fully stocked bar, large convertible sofa, peek-a-boo shower and balcony sun chairs. These suites can also sleep up for four.

Sweet Aft Suite: There are seven of these suites onboard in three variations that include the “biggest” balcony, an “even bigger” balcony or a “pretty big” balcony. These suites are located centrally at the stern of Scarlet Lady, with wake views from the bed or shower. Sweet Aft Suites range in size from 416 to 661 square feet, depending on balcony size, and sleep two.

Cheeky Corner Suite: These 14 suites also come in three varieties, six with “biggest” terrace balconies, four with “even bigger” terrace balconies and four with “pretty big” terrace balconies. They all sleep two guests and have an open bedroom overlooking the ship’s wake, as well as a large wardrobe with extra space, and a corner sofa. Cheeky Corner Suites range in size from 607 to 847 square feet, depending on balcony size.

The Mega Suites:

Located on Deck 15 with added perks like a custom bar setup and a RockStar concierge to fill their ‘rider’, these suites are intended to be some of the most glamorous on any mainstream cruise line.

(A rider is a list of requests given by a celebrity or high-profile figure to a venue that includes such items as a bowl of Lucky Charms, all green M&Ms, an electric guitar and more).
