Carnival Pride gets new livery and other upgrades during refit and refurbishment

Carnival Pride has received Carnival Cruise Line’s new patriotic livery during its refit in Spain, which also included a number of other upgrades to the vessel’s passenger areas ahead of her deployment in Europe for the summer.

Carnival Pride will leave the Navantia shipyard, in Cádiz later this month after work is complete on adding new bars, updated equipment, a new steakhouse and upgrades to her passenger cabins.

Carnival Cruise Line’s new livery includes a navy-blue hull highlighted by vibrant red and white accents, its both a homage to maritime tradition as well as a nod to the colours of the American flag, underscoring Carnival position as a US-based cruise line.

The new livery was introduced with the delivery of Mardi Gras in 2022, the cruise line’s largest ship to date, and celebrates its 50th anniversary since commencing service. Since then it has gradually been added to the rest of the 25-ship fleet.

Carnival has included other patriotic elements in its refit and refurbishment schedule with Carnival Pride receiving the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, a venue that salutes the U.S. military and is also present in other ships of the fleet.

Other upgrades include new equipment and a fresh look for Cloud 9 Spa and Fitness Center, as well as a rebranded Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse. The 2,100-passenger ship will also boast a new Carnival Adventures shop and a Dreams Photography Studio.

The re-branding of the steakhouse will see the ship’s current steakhouse, David’s, removed. The change from David’s to Fahrenheit 555 brings Carnival Pride up to date with the rest of the Carnival fleet, while also removing an interior decor element that has long been controversial.

The previous David’s Steakhouse has long featured a replica of Michelangelo’s statue of David, which occasionally provoked the ire of more conservative passengers, even after a fig leaf was added to protect David’s modesty.

“The Steakhouse will be redesigned to become the Fahrenheit 555 as we have on most of the fleet. This means we have to say ‘ciao’ to David,” says Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald. “I know he and his now covered dangly bits have been a feature there since the ship was delivered in 2002 but it is time for David to retire.”

After welcoming guests back on May 28th, Carnival Pride is set to offer a summer program in Europe that includes 15 departures across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the British Isles and more.
