Carnival Magic completes dry-dock, debuting all-new Carnival Cruise Line livery

Carnival Magic has left dry-dock at the shipyard in Marseilles, France, revealing the new Carnival Cruise Line livery that is being rolled out across the fleet.

Carnival Magic is the first ship in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet to get the new livery, which is based on the hull colour scheme that was first introduced aboard the new Mardi Gras.

The Dream-class Carnival Magic completed her dry dock on May 24th, and has now been replaced in the shipyard by Carnival Glory, which will also receive the new livery, in addition to other upgrades during the refit.

Carnival Magic’s refit and refurbishment was fairly light, with some cosmetic changes made to the ship’s public rooms, such as new carpets and soft furnishing, while the casino was also expanded to include more slot machines.

The WaterWorks aqua park and pool areas also got some updates. This was the first refit and refubishment of Carnival Magic since 2016.

She is the first cruise ship (after Mardi Gras) to sail with Carnival’s shiny new red, white and blue livery, which is both a nod to the iconic carnival colors and the traditional navy-blue colours of officer uniforms, while also channeling the colour palette of the American flag.

The new livery is based on that of Mardi Gras, the line’s new flagship

The new livery was announced just after Carnival Cruise Line dismissed rumours that it might move homeports from the US to the Caribbean due to the ongoing (at that time) suspension of US cruises by the CDC.

During an interview, Christine Duffy, President & CEO of Carnival Cruise Line, said that the company was “America’s cruise line” and would always sail from US ports.

The line’s patience paid off, as it was recently given permission to resume US cruises this July, and the livery appears to be a clear statement about Carnival Cruise Line’s roots.

With the situation on resuming cruises from the US remaining fluid and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) making ongoing updates to its Conditional Sailing Order, Carnival Magic’s return is not yet decided.

For now, Carnival plans on resuming cruises with just four ships in July. In the following months, even more vessels will begin to restart cruises.
