Regent Seven Seas Splendor to spend 2024/25 South African season in Cape Town

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is returning to South Africa for the 2024/25 cruise season with Seven Seas Splendor due to sail a series of roundtrip cruises from Cape Town in December.

In January, Seven Seas Splendor will then reposition to South America, cruising between San Antonio, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires.

The two 15-night roundtrip cruises from Cape Town in December will depart December 6th, and 21st, 2024, with the second departure also including Christmas Day at sea cruising the Wild Coast, while New Year will be celebrated in Maputo, Mozambique.

Other port calls on both itineraries include Walvis Bay in Namibia, and Mossel Bay, Port Elizabeth, Durban, and Richard’s Bay in South Africa.

When Regent Seven Seas’ revealed its 2024/25 Voyage Collection, which includes these Cape Town departures, it saw its biggest ever booking day in history, with South African itineraries among the most popular.

“This year’s voyage collection was highly appealing with more variety featuring over 160 new port-intensive itineraries that discover every part of the globe, including on board our newest ship Seven Seas Grandeur once she joins The World’s Most Luxurious Fleet in 2023,” Jason Montague, President & CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The choice of Cape Town as a homeport for its mini South African cruise season is also a reflection of the city’s growing popularity as a homeport for major cruise lines looking for more unusual itineraries for passengers.

Cape Town is growing in popularity as a cruise homeport.

Although it remains more popular with luxury cruise lines, because their passengers have the money and time to spend on longer flights from major cruise markets like North America, Europe and Asia, Regent says the city has much to offer.

“Regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Cape Town offers museums, lush parks and shops, impressive mountains, magnificent beaches and outstanding wineries,” the cruise line says.

“Ride a cable-car to the top of famous flat-topped Table Mountain and gaze at the mosaic of towering mountains, verdant valleys and the confluence of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The historical highlight is Robben Island, once the prison holding such outstanding anti-apartheid leaders as Nelson Mandela,” it adds.

Seven Seas Spendor is one of the cruise line’s new Explorer-class cruise ships, which debuted with the Seven Seas Explorer, and then Seven Seas Splendor in 2020 (Seven Seas Grandeur will join the fleet next year).

These ships are what Regent Seven Seas calls “luxury perfected”, with the largest owner’s suite in the entire global cruise fleet, and a wide variety of top-notch restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as various entertainment options and relaxation amenities.
