Regent Seven Seas to cruise roundtrip from Cape Town in 2020/21 season

Regent Seven Seas Cruises will homeport in Cape Town during next year’s cruise season, with Seven Seas Voyager due to sail two roundtrip South African cruises from Cape Town, before crossing the Atlantic to Buenos Aires.

Seven Seas Voyager will cruise two identical 14-night itineraries from Cape Town, with the first departing December 8th, 2020 and the second departing December 22nd, 2020. Both cruises are unusual in the South African cruise market for their lack of an overnight stay in Cape Town.

Seven Seas Voyager will stay overnight in Durban on both her roundtrip Cape Town cruises in 2020

Instead, the cruises are destination-packed, with eight ports visited during each two-week cruise.

Durban will be the only city in which Seven Seas Voyager will stay overnight, giving passengers two full days to explore the city and partake in shore excursions that go into the interior of game safaris and cultural experiences.

In addition to Durban, on both cruises Seven Seas Voyager will also visit Walvis Bay and Luderitz in Namibia, Maputo in Mozambique, and South Africa’s Mossel Bay, Port Elizabeth and Richard’s Bay.

Because of the destination-intensive nature of the itinerary, the ship will never be at sea for more than two days in a row, and that will be on the run between Luderitz and Port Elizabeth, for most of the cruise, port calls will come consecutively, or with only one sea day in-between.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is a luxury cruise line, with specialty dining, beverages and shore excursions all included in the cruise fare. Seven Seas Voyager, like every other ship in the Regent fleet, is also an all-suite ship, so this itinerary comes in at a high price point.

For the ‘cheapest’ stateroom on-board, the Deluxe Veranda Suite, its US $13,000 (R181,000) per person. For the best stateroom on-board, the 1,200 sq ft Master Suite, complete with marble ensuites, wraparound balconies, two bedrooms and huge living room and dining room, you’ll need to cough up R335,000.

After she completes her mini-season in South Africa, Seven Seas Voyager will depart Cape Town on January 5th, 2021 bound for Buenos Aires, a 26-night trans-Atlantic and South American grand voyage that can also be booked as a shorter 14-night cruise ending in Rio de Janeiro.

For those that love a day at sea, this cruise includes a full five seadays in the Atlantic on the run from St Helena to Rio.
