QE2 Dubai floating hotel reopens Pavilion al fresco dining restaurant

QE2 Dubai, the only floating hotel in the Middle East, has reopened its al fresco dining venue, The Pavilion, ahead of the high tourism season during the cooler winter months.

Located on the lower aft deck of the QE2, aft of the Lido buffet restaurant, where the ship’s main pool used to be during her days as an ocean liner, The Pavilion offers views of Port Rashid and Dubai’s skyline beyond.

“Guests can unwind and relax in this one-of-a-kind open-air lounge, whilst enjoying a variety of international dishes and sampling the extensive shisha menu,” QE2 Dubai said in a press release.

The Pavilion at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel is open Sunday to Thursday from 3:00 pm to 12:00 midnight and Friday and Saturday from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am.

Queen Elizabeth 2 was formally the flagship of the Cunard Line, one of the oldest passenger shipping companies in the world, and the only cruise line that has offered regular trans-Atlantic cruises into the 21st century.

Queen Elizabeth II spent several decades in Cunard service before being sold to Dubai Holdings in 2007. She spent more than a decade in lay-up in Dubai due to the 2008 financial crisis, and was relaunched in 2018 as a floating hotel.

The ship, which has been preserved as a ‘living museum’, with much of her 1969 art decor interior intact, offers 447 rooms and suites designed to suit the needs of business, leisure travellers and families alike.

Dining includes international cuisine at Lido restaurant, drinks, and snacks at Golden Lion – the oldest pub in Dubai, and afternoon tea at The Queen’s Grill.

QE2 also offers a historic ballroom (the Queen’s Room), as well as a Grand Lounge for events, and all the services associated with a hotel, such as a spa, pool (indoor only), and a seasonal nightclub that will soon reopen on her topmost deck.
