QE2 Dubai set to open the world’s largest floating nightclub

QE2 Dubai, the former Cunard Line ocean liner turned floating hotel, will open Float Dubai in October.

Float Dubai will be the first floating nightclub in the UAE, with a 1,000-person capacity and music by local and international DJs and artists.

QE2 Dubai haven’t revealed much about Float Dubai, but they have said that it will be located on the highest deck of the QE2, with a lounge downstairs for those who want to relax between sets.

However, the highest deck of the QE2 is the Signal Deck, where her Grand Suites and Ocean Veranda rooms are located, so there’s no room for a 1000-capacity nightclub.

On the deck below, at the aft of the ship, however, there is what used to be the Funnel Bar, and it may be here that the outdoor Float Dubai nightclub will be located.

The lounge downstairs mentioned in the press release is likely the Yacht Club, although we won’t known for sure until October when the new nightclub opens.

Float Dubai will open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and along with house, RnB and chart hits, it will also feature an extravagant menu of Japanese sushi (which includes signature maki rolls, nigiri, sashimi and more), as well as diverse sharing platters of Latin and Pan-Asian cuisine.

The space will have a mix of high tables for up to four guests, and bigger booths with prime views of the stage and Dubai’s iconic skyline.

For dining, table reservations are required, but those looking to dance against the backdrop of the old Dubai skyline in Port Rashid can show up as they please, there’s no entry charge. The club will open from 10pm to 3am.

Queen Elizabeth II was launched in 1969 and sailed 1,400 voyages, many of them on the Southampton-New York trans-Atlantic run during her four-decade career. She was sold by Cunard in 2008 and opened as a floating hotel in Dubai ten years later.

More than 2.7 million man-hours were spent restoring the historic ship to its former glory as an ocean liner and her cabins are finished in period furniture in a nod to her past.

On the 13 decks that are open to passengers, the floating hotel offers the laid-back Golden Lion Bar, the chic Queens Grill restaurant, the smart-casual Yacht Club, the Lido buffet, as well as an indoor pool, spa, gym, conference facilities and even a shopping promenade.
