Fully refurbished Glass House aboard Marella Discovery revealed

Marella Cruises has debuted its newly refurbished indoor pool and dining venue Glass House aboard Marella Discovery.

The refurbished Glass House aboard Marella Discovery now features a modern beach-club vibe instead of the Greco-Roman design it had before.

The revamp includes new cabanas, shutter-style room dividers and an updated menu with new additions including yakitori skewers, pasta and rotisserie-style chicken.

Along with the new cabana-style sunbeds, there are also new sun loungers, dining tables, sofas, chairs, pool tiling, wall coverings and new flooring.

New lighting has also been installed, with different light moods for daytime and evening to create the perfect beach club ambiance.

“We’re delighted with the refurbished Glass House aboard Marella Discovery,” said Chris Hackney, Managing Director, Marella Cruises. “We’re always thinking of ways we can make the experience onboard even better for our customers and the revamped space offers the perfect spot for a poolside drink during the day or a laid-back dining option by night.”

The Glass House, one of the dining options for cruisers onboard Marella Discovery, offers split menus – during the day, it provides deli-style choices, and at night it transforms into a casual restaurant with a tapas-style menu.

The refurbished Glass House aboard Marella Discovery was revealed just days after a Marella Cruises UK cruise season was announced for the summer, 2021.

Marella Cruises didn’t confirm in its social media announcement which cruise ship it will be deploying in the UK for its upcoming summer cruise season, but only Marella Explorer and Marella Explorer 2 are currently in the UK.

Marella Discovery, however, was relocated to Amsterdam following her refit, putting her closer to the UK market if the cruise line does decide to homeport her in the UK.

The announcement of a domestic cruise program in the UK is the cruise line’s first effort at resuming operations and comes following an announcement by the UK government that domestic travel restrictions will be eased from May 17th.

Marella Discovery is a sister ship to fellow Marella cruise ship Discovery 2, as well as the Royal Caribbean ships Enchantment, Rhapsody and Vision of the Seas.

She was purchased from Royal Caribbean in 2015 after sailing her first Middle East cruise season out of Dubai and joined the Marella fleet in 2016 following a thorough refurbishment.
