Marella Cruises first to launch post-pandemic fly-cruise packages

Marella Cruises is the first UK cruise line to reveal a fly-cruise program post-pandemic, with its ship Marella Discovery due to cruise roundtrip from Corfu from September 3rd, 2021.

Marella Cruises fly-cruise program aboard Marella Discovery out of Corfu will include calls at Greek destinations including Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete.

Marella Discovery will operate 7-night cruises from Corfu, and prices start at from £986 per person when booked online. The price includes return flights, transfers, port taxes, tips and service charges.

“The decision to lift the ban on international cruising is great news for the industry, following the safe and successful launch of domestic cruising it’s exciting to know cruise ships can begin to sail internationally very soon,” said Chris Hackney, Managing Director of TUI UK and Ireland.

“Our domestic cruises have received some fantastic customer feedback and we will continue to operate these from Southampton and Newcastle in August before we return to international cruises in September from our homeports in the UK and Corfu,” he added.

Marella Cruises is a British cruise line but has traditionally operated fly-cruise packages, sailing from foreign ports and flying UK guests to the ship, rather than sailing from the UK itself.

To ensure the safety of both customers and crew, Marella Cruises will have vaccination and testing requirements in place and will require anyone aged 18 years and older to have had both COVID-19 doses at least 14 days before traveling.

All under 18-year-olds, excluding infants under the age of two (who will not be able to sail), will be asked to have a lateral flow test.

All guests will need to check in for their cruise and complete their cruise health declaration online pre-departure to release their cruise boarding pass.

In addition to Corfu, Marella Cruises will also be launching fly-cruises from Palma, Majorca in the near future aboard Marella Explorer.

The cruises will visit Palermo, Sicily; Naples (For Pompeii & Capri), Italy; Piombino (for Siena and Pisa), Italy; Villefranche (for Monaco and Nice), France and Palamos, Spain.

Marella Explorer 2 will also sail a 7-night Continental Coasts cruise from Malaga, Costa Del Sol visiting Palamos, Spain; Barcelona, Spain; Palma, Majorca; Alicante, Spain and Almeria, Spain.

Marella said that guests can save up to £900 per couple on fly-cruise sailings, with the offer valid on departures including flights between September, 2021 and October 24th, 2021.
