The ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea are sending Silver Whisper to Cape Town in 2019 for a 24-night cruise to Lisbon.
The itinerary is one of most port-heavy of any West African cruise from Cape Town during the year, and the ship will be cruising from South Africa fresh from a major refurbishment.

Silver Whisper will call at eight ports between Cape Town and Lisbon, including Walvis Bay, Principe in Sao Tome and Principe, Lome in Togo, Tema in Ghana, Banjul in Gambia, Dakar in Senegal, Casablanca in Morocco and Seville in Spain.
“At the confluence of the Atlantic and Indian oceans, the scenery turns a lush Mediterranean green, with long white beaches and that most perfect harbour, Cape Town, gateway to beautiful winelands and amazing game preserves,” Silversea says in its publicity material for the voyage.
“Follow the coast up to Namibia to explore a desert landscape of colossal dunes coloured in a mesmerising palette of pink, orange and red sand,” it adds, providing a taste of the exotic nature of the port calls and shore excursions on offer for this cruise.
Unlike most other northbound West African cruises from Cape Town, Silver Whisper will also stay overnight at several of the port of call, including on the first night of the cruise in Cape Town, in Walvis Bay and in Seville.

This gives guest greater opportunity to explore these key stops on the cruise. In Walvis Bay, for example, there are ten shore excursion options, including dinner in the desert, flights over a four-thousand-year-old lagoon and an exploration of ghost towns on the Skeleton Coast.
Similarly, in Cape Town and Seville, where passengers will also have two days to explore the cities, there are 14 and 11 shore excursions on offer respectively. While Cape Town’s tourism allure is well known to South African cruise passengers, the 2,200-year-old city of Seville will no doubt prove a signature port of call for many.
It is home to Flamenco, high temperatures and three UNESCO-World Heritage Sites, as well as being the birthplace of painter Diego Velazquez, the resting place of Christopher Columbus, and the inspiration for Bizet’s Carmen and a location for Game of Thrones filming.
This voyage aboard Silversea’s Silver Whisper will also come soon after the ship’s bow-to-stern refurbishment, courtesy of Royal Caribbean’s money following its acquisition of the cruise line.
