Voyages to Antiquity features South Africa cruises aboard classic ship Aegean Odyssey in 2015/16

The UK cruise operator Voyages to Antiquity has confirmed that it is deploying its classic cruise ship MV Aegean Odyssey to South Africa during the 2016 cruise season, news that will surely be welcome by vintage cruise ship enthusiasts in the South African cruise market.

Built in 1973 as a Greek ferry and entirely re-built in 1988 as a cruise ship, the 140m intimate cruise liner has been sailing for Voyages to Antiquity since 2010, when she underwent a multi-million dollar refit and refurbishment.

South Africa will feature prominently in the cruise line’s 2015 and 2016 cruise programs, with a 31-night cruise from Malaga Spain to Cape Town, South Africa bringing the cruise ship into Cape Town harbour on November 19^th, 2015.

She’ll then sail a roundtrip Cape Town to Cape Town cruise of 19-night over Christmas and New Year, departing on December 19^th.

A 14-night Cape Town cruise departure on January 5th will give passengers the opportunity to explore wild Namibia and sail down its Skeleton Coast, spend at least two nights in Cape Town with trips to Robben Island and Table Mountain, and go on included game drives in national parks.

The vintage cruise ship, which carries just 380 passengers, will depart South Africa for the final time in 2016 on January 17^th, sailing a 26-night cruise to Colombo, Sri Lanka, which can be double-booked as a 46-night grand voyage to Singapore.
