Cunard expands Queen Mary 2 2026 Transatlantic entertainment programme

Cunard is set to expand the onboard entertainment offering across all Transatlantic Crossings operated by Queen Mary 2 in 2026, introducing what it describes as its most extensive enrichment programme to date.

The programme will be available on sailings between New York City and Southampton, with a schedule of theatre, music, literature, and immersive experiences tied to partnerships with major cultural institutions, including the Olivier Awards and the Tony Awards.

“For more than 185 years, Cunard’s iconic Transatlantic Crossings have been defined by extraordinary journeys and exceptional experiences,” said Katie McAlister, President, Cunard. “In 2026, we’re offering the most extensive enrichment programme ever on a single year of crossings, placing world-class entertainment at the heart of every voyage.”

“From award-winning theatre and classical music to thought-provoking literary conversations, this programme reflects our long-standing commitment to celebrating culture at sea,” she added. “We’re incredibly proud to partner with the Olivier and Tony Awards and to welcome such remarkable talent on board Queen Mary 2.”

A series of themed event voyages will anchor the programme. London Theatre at Sea, developed in partnership with the Olivier Awards and curated by Julian Bird, will take place on a May 22nd sailing, bringing West End-style performances and musical theatre singalongs onboard. The voyage will also feature a one-off production, The Oliviers in Concert, marking 50 years of the awards, accompanied by the Royal Court Theatre orchestra. Guests will have access to workshops, gala events, and interactive experiences, including opportunities to engage directly with performers and productions.

Later in May, a new production of The Constant Wife, written by Laura Wade and starring Kara Tointon, will debut at sea, with original music by Jamie Cullum.

On September 5th, conductor Anthony Inglis will lead the UK’s National Symphony Orchestra for two performances onboard, alongside talks, Q&A sessions, and a guest choir programme.

The ship’s 450th Transatlantic Crossing will feature a dedicated programme titled “The 450 Club: Celebrate the Transatlantic,” created by theatre company Immersive Octopus. The programme will explore Cunard’s history through staged experiences, including references to Noël Coward and Arthur Rostron, alongside lectures, behind-the-scenes tours, and a commemorative gala dinner.

A Literature Festival at Sea sailing, departing November 28th, will bring together authors, journalists, historians, and critics for a series of talks, signings, and themed events focused on the written word.

In addition, a series of entertainment residencies will run across selected crossings, featuring productions such as “Jimmy” by Adam Riches, “It’s a Mystery!” by Tim Benzie, “A Room of One’s Own” by Dyad Productions, and “Private Peaceful” by Michael Morpurgo.

Across the wider fleet, Cunard expects to host more than 680 guest speakers in 2026, including Celia Imrie, Floella Benjamin, Tony Robinson, and Andrew Strauss, reflecting a broader emphasis on enrichment-led programming across its voyages.
