Royal Caribbean Group, PortMiami, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, and construction partner Lemartec-NV2A JV have marked the groundbreaking of the new Cruise Terminal G at the Port of Miami.

The event brought together county officials, port leadership and industry executives to formally commence construction of the new cruise complex, which will serve ships operated by Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea Cruises.

The new terminal forms part of a partnership between Miami-Dade County, PortMiami, Royal Caribbean Group, and Lemartec-NV2A JV, with overall development scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

The new facility will be constructed as a state-of-the-art terminal complex with LEED certification, incorporating a multi-level parking structure and a ground-level intermodal transportation hub, integrating road traffic, passenger drop-off, and public transport connectivity into the port’s wider transport network.

Terminal G will be designed to accommodate next-generation cruise ships and is expected to handle vessels carrying up to 7,000 passengers, placing it among the largest cruise terminals in the world by passenger capacity.

The project forms part of a US$345 million development programme that commenced in July 2025. The initial phase of work included the demolition of the former Terminal G structure, which originally opened in 1999, serving cruise operations for more than two decades.

The new terminal’s main building has been designed to separate passenger flows by floor, with embarkation and disembarkation processes distributed across multiple levels, improving circulation, reducing congestion, and streamlining terminal operations during peak turnaround periods.

The terminal’s exterior design has also been positioned as a significant architectural addition to PortMiami’s evolving skyline, joining a growing portfolio of large-scale cruise infrastructure projects underway at the port in response to increasing ship sizes and passenger volumes.

Terminal G will complement Royal Caribbean Group’s existing presence at PortMiami. The company already operates Terminal A, which it completed in 2018 and which currently serves as the homeport for some of the cruise industry’s largest vessels. Once complete, the new terminal is expected to play a central role in PortMiami’s long-term development strategy, reinforcing the port’s status as one of the world’s largest cruise hubs and supporting the continued growth of Royal Caribbean Group’s North American and global cruise operations.
